AI cannot replace teachers
Teachers in the digital age are facing many challenges as well as opening up many opportunities. To maintain their position, teachers themselves must constantly strive to study, research, update new knowledge, new skills, and improve the quality of lectures so that students have interesting and effective learning experiences.
One issue that has been raised is the need to improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese students in the international arena. To do so, we need to focus on aspects such as innovation in the curriculum and teaching methods. The curriculum needs to reduce academic knowledge and increase practical content, critical thinking skills, and creativity. Teaching methods need to be innovated in the direction of encouraging students to be autonomous and proactive in their learning.
In addition, language is an important tool to help Vietnamese students access global knowledge and connect internationally. There needs to be an international standard English curriculum right from primary school, helping students confidently use this language to study and communicate.
At the same time, focusing on training soft skills and skills such as communication, teamwork, problem solving, and adapting to change is essential in the context of integration. Extracurricular programs, experiential activities, and skill practice will help students develop more comprehensively.
Moreover, many schools today have promoted creativity and entrepreneurship, encouraging students to participate in innovation competitions, scientific research, and startup projects to help nurture creativity and confidence in their own abilities.
International integration requires students to have the ability to self-study and a spirit of lifelong learning. Teachers should focus on guiding students in searching skills, evaluating information, and effective learning methods, helping them to self-study and develop in the future.
Another very important issue is educating children about ethics, lifestyle, tolerance and social responsibility. This is considered the foundation for our students to integrate into the international community.

Speaking at a meeting with teachers and education managers on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day (November 20), General Secretary To Lam emphasized: “The world is in a period of epochal change, competition between major countries is increasingly fierce, in which competition over the quality of human resources determines the development opportunities of each country and is identified as the core. The 4th Industrial Revolution, the formation of a knowledge-based economy and knowledge-based society; the requirement to transform the economic model from breadth to depth, restructuring the economy towards quality, efficiency, and high competitiveness... have promoted educational innovation to become a global trend and Vietnam cannot stand outside that trend.”
The General Secretary mentioned the focus on building a team of teachers and educational managers with virtue and talent, who are passionate, enthusiastic, skilled, knowledgeable, capable of imparting knowledge, eager to learn, innovative, and truly role models for students to learn and follow; sufficient in number and consistent in structure.
“With a country and a nation with a tradition of studiousness and respect for talents; a team of dedicated teachers who love their jobs, are willing to sacrifice and are committed to their profession; and with the decisive and synchronous participation of the entire political system, the entire education sector will overcome all difficulties, overcome all challenges, and successfully carry out the reform of education and training,” General Secretary To Lam affirmed.

Up to now, our Party and State have paid attention to and prescribed policies and regimes to help teachers ensure social security, work with peace of mind and contribute. However, towards the new era, the era of national development, education and training must be drastically reformed more fundamentally and comprehensively. Education must be substantial and creative to adapt to the strong development of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
A good teacher is not only someone who imparts knowledge, but also inspires, arouses passion for learning, helps learners develop themselves, promote their abilities and personal qualities. In fact, there is one thing that AI can never replace a teacher, and that is love for students.
Teachers should maintain ethics and dedication to the profession.
To be successful in the career of educating people and inspiring the younger generation, I think every teacher should maintain professional ethics and responsibility. Teachers not only teach knowledge, but also set an ethical example for students. Therefore, every teacher should always maintain professional standards and an honest and fair attitude to create a positive and lasting influence on students.
Teaching is a long and challenging journey, passion and love for the profession are the driving force that helps teachers overcome difficulties, always maintain enthusiasm for work, constantly learn and develop themselves. In order not to be left behind, teachers must constantly improve their knowledge, update new teaching methods and get acquainted with technology. This not only helps to renew lectures but also demonstrates the initiative to learn throughout life, setting an example for students.
It is worth mentioning that the balance between work and life helps teachers maintain mental and physical health, thereby always keeping a comfortable spirit and a positive attitude when working with students. A good teacher must understand that each student has his or her own personality and strengths. Listening, empathy and patience help teachers build close relationships with students, thereby promoting confidence and developing each student's potential.
With creativity and dedication to the profession, each teacher must inspire through stories and real-life experiences. Integrating stories or real-life experiences into lectures helps students easily absorb knowledge, increase practicality and motivation to learn. Teachers should find ways to connect lessons with life, making lectures more vivid and meaningful.
One of the most effective ways to inspire students is to encourage them to think independently, be creative and express their opinions confidently. Teachers should create an open learning environment where students feel comfortable and confident in exploring knowledge. Young teachers, through their tireless efforts and love for their students, can inspire and create positive, lasting impacts in the lives of their students.
On the occasion of the anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, 2024, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son also shared: "Perhaps the biggest challenge is the challenge from within, from within the process of educational innovation. That is the challenge of innovation, overcoming oneself, denying oneself as a transformation for development. Facing the era of national growth, education needs a transformation from within, to move towards higher quality, towards an education that develops people comprehensively, creates good citizens and high-quality human resources. Educational innovation must change old habits, ways of thinking, ways of thinking and doing, overcome limits for breakthrough development".
From there, the head of the education sector also told teachers: “The greater the challenge, the more changes, the more new things are introduced, the more education needs to return to consolidate and equip learners with the most basic and fundamental things. Standing firmly on the most core values of education are the values of love, honesty, kindness and beauty, in addition to the new abilities and skills of the times. That is to bring the unchanging to cope with the ever-changing."
With knowledge, experience, love and responsibility, as a symbol of knowledge and personality, I believe that teachers will lead the young generation to confidently step into a world that is constantly developing but also full of fluctuations.
