On July 15, the Ministry of Planning and Investment held a conference to review the direction and management work in the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2024. In his opening speech, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized: The socio-economic development situation   The whole country in the first 6 months of 2024 achieved many important, quite comprehensive and very encouraging results, completing and exceeding expectations of many set targets and tasks. However, the current global and domestic situation continues to have many complex and unpredictable developments; opportunities, advantages and difficulties, challenges intertwine, but difficulties and challenges are more numerous; Domestically, a number of industries and sectors still face many difficulties and obstacles, typically the retail sector of goods and services, demand and purchasing power have not recovered strongly, input costs are still high, there are still unsolved bottlenecks in the housing and real estate sectors... Therefore, this is an important time for the Planning and Investment sector to look back, objectively and practically evaluate the work that has been done and the work that has not been done as expected in the first 6 months of the year. From there, draw out good practices, good lessons to work together to do better, be more creative, innovative and effective to contribute to realizing the growth and development goals of the country in 2024 and the coming time.

Referring to the major tasks set for the entire Planning, Investment and Statistics sector in the last 6 months of the year, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung noted the need to effectively implement newly issued solutions, policies and regulations, and at the same time have new, breakthrough solutions for growth and development to meet expectations and new requirements set for the last 6 months of the year and the whole year of 2024. "We must not be subjective or satisfied with the achieved results. If we have done well, we need to do better. If we have been effective, we need to be more effective, and be more creative in our advisory work. We must closely follow the situation, proactively create and exploit new opportunities for national development," said the Minister. The Minister said that when the country's position and strength are constantly enhanced, if we know how to seize the opportunity, challenges can become a driving force for us to move forward, develop and catch up with other countries. Therefore, the Planning and Investment sector must further promote the spirit of initiative in reform, development, long-term vision and strategy, breakthrough thinking, innovation, taking development for stability to advise on new directions and tasks for the whole country, sectors, fields and localities in the period of 2026-2030. At the conference, representatives of the functional Departments and Offices of the Ministry of Planning and Investment and representatives of the Departments of Planning and Investment of localities focused on discussing the situation and results achieved in the first 6 months of the year; identifying shortcomings and limitations and analyzing the causes and lessons learned in the direction and administration work. From there, the direction, tasks, solutions and action motto of the Ministry in the last 6 months of the year were proposed. In particular, the Planning and Investment sector will focus on continuing to direct and operate resolutely to complete the projects and tasks assigned by the Government and the Prime Minister; closely follow the world and domestic economic situation to promptly advise on appropriate solutions and policies to effectively implement the goals and tasks of the socio-economic development plan. As an advisory body of the Government, the Ministry of Planning and Investment also focuses on promoting administrative procedure reform; advising the Government and the Prime Minister to direct the reduction and simplification of regulations and administrative procedures related to enterprises and business conditions to remove difficulties and obstacles for enterprises. Continue to review mechanisms and policies to promptly adjust and handle issues arising in public investment management, review and amend in the direction of promoting decentralization, delegation of authority, assignment of tasks and assignment of tasks to ensure unified management, effectiveness and efficiency of operations; at the same time, promote proactiveness; creativity, promoting the sense of responsibility of each level and each sector associated with an effective power control mechanism...
