The over 100-year-old banyan tree in Suoi Tien tourist area, Thu Duc city, attracts thousands of tourists to visit and hang wishes on New Year's occasion.

The "wishing" tree is about 20 meters high and is over a hundred years old. In 1995, when the tourist area was built, the banyan tree was used as a place for visitors to make wishes.

The banyan tree is still growing well, with dense branches and leaves, spreading shade over about 600 square meters, with many wishing strings hanging high above.

Thousands of wishes are written on red and pink cloth and hung on the tree. When there are enough strings, the management will remove them and hang them higher to create more space for visitors to write their wishes and tie them to the tree.

Visitors buy strings for 10,000 VND each and write their wishes on them.

After visiting the tourist area, Ms. Nguyen Dieu Hien, from Binh Phuoc, hung her wishes on a tree branch. "I just wish for health and happiness in the new year," said the 26-year-old tourist.

"I hope that in the new year I will have a companion in life," Phan Van Thuong wrote in his wish list.

In the corner of the tree, there is an altar, statues of the God of Earth and the God of Wealth for visitors to worship after writing their wishes.

The wishing tree attracts many visitors to "check in" during the Lunar New Year.

Many young people in Ao Dai pose next to colorful strips of fabric hanging on the tree. "The strings hanging on the tree create a brilliant beauty, full of the Tet atmosphere," said Han Di, 23 years old.

The tree provides wide shade and is also a place for tourists to rest and eat when visiting the tourist area.
