Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan - Electrical Engineer, Secretary of the Youth Union of Tay Ninh Power Company, Chairman of the Go Dau Power Union, Head of the Planning and Engineering Department of Go Dau Power is one of the three young faces of Tay Ninh province; one of 22 individuals of Vietnam Electricity honored as "Excellent Young Worker" nationwide in 2023. With useful initiatives, Mr. Tuan has contributed his intelligence and creativity to the unit, contributing to the construction and development of the local power grid system.
Initiatives from reality
In 2007, after graduating from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, majoring in Electricity - Electronics, and Electrical Systems, Mr. Tuan stayed in the city to work and improve his skills and knowledge. In 2012, Mr. Tuan applied for a job transfer to Tay Ninh Electricity Company with the desire to be close to his family and contribute his intelligence to his hometown.
Working in the right field and profession, Mr. Tuan is like a "fish in water" who freely creates, proposes many useful initiatives that benefit the company, applies them in practice to bring high economic and social efficiency and helps the construction process go smoothly, quickly, and ensures safety for workers.
From 2020 to now, Mr. Tuan has had 6 initiatives recognized by Tay Ninh Electricity, of which 2 initiatives were recognized by Southern Power Corporation and applied to the construction of the power grid in 21 provinces and cities in the Southern region. Those are the initiatives "Measuring sample wire for internal connection of meter box" and "Meter mounting partition for convenient observation and inspection of low-voltage indirect metering system".
His initiatives are highly applicable and effective, not only contributing to promoting the construction of the power grid, reducing power incidents for Tay Ninh Electricity, but also contributing to improving the quality of electricity supply for local customers.
The idea of “Measuring sample wire for internal meter box” arose from the process of observing the construction of electrical wiring and installation of new meters for customers. During the construction, the electrical team staff had to measure the wire to measure the size and cut the internal wire for the meter box, which took a lot of time and effort. From there, he came up with the idea of making a sample measuring ruler so that workers could easily measure and cut the wire easily but with high accuracy.
The sample measuring ruler was simply designed with aluminum and he calculated the accuracy by measuring many times. After more than 1 week of testing, he created a precise internal meter box wire measuring ruler, the construction workers only need to apply the measuring ruler to the wire and cut the wire easily. From there, the progress of installing electrical wires and installing meters for customers also became more accurate, faster, saving a lot of time and construction costs.
Regarding the initiative “Meter installation partition for convenient observation and inspection of low-voltage indirect metering system”, Mr. Tuan said that this is a fairly simple initiative but has high applicability in the construction process. The initiative was proposed by him based on the limitations in the inspection and installation of low-voltage CT (current transformer - current conversion device).
Previously, to perform the inspection, staff had to cut off the power at the station, cut the seal, remove the connection wire to the meter, and remove the partition, which was time-consuming and affected the reliability index of the power supply.
Seeing that situation, he came up with the idea of designing a transparent glass partition attached to the low-voltage CT so that workers could easily inspect and accept it after construction. Although the idea was simple, it helped shorten the construction time, speed up the inspection of low-voltage CT systems, and at the same time help construction workers observe and check whether animals (rats, snakes, lizards, etc.) have nested or lived there, thereby limiting electrical incidents caused by animals.
Mr. Tuan added that most of his initiatives were drawn from practical observations and listening to the opinions and difficulties of workers during the construction process. According to Mr. Tuan, the technical department is an important department, providing maximum support in construction, maintenance and electrical repair. Therefore, electrical engineers must be meticulous to ensure the safety of construction workers and electricity users.
Mr. Tuan actively participates in organizing movement activities for young union members to participate in.
“The joy of an electrical engineer is nothing more than using his knowledge to benefit the company, colleagues and people. In the future, I will continue to research and implement initiatives to overcome electrical problems caused by animals and lightning protection. This is a common issue that Tay Ninh Power Company as well as the Vietnam Electricity industry has been interested in and researched for many years,” Mr. Tuan shared.
With many years of working and contributing to the provincial Electricity industry as well as Vietnam Electricity in general, Mr. Tuan has been recognized by the Corporation and Tay Ninh Electricity Company for his outstanding achievements in production and creative activities.
In particular, he received a certificate of merit from Vietnam Electricity Group as an individual with excellent achievements in completing his work tasks in 2018; was recognized and rewarded by the Southern Power Corporation for individuals who achieved the title of Emulation Fighter at the Southern Power Corporation's base in 2020; and achieved the title of Emulation Fighter at the Southern Power Corporation's base in 2022.
Enthusiastic and energetic grassroots Youth Union Secretary
In addition to his role as an electrical engineer, Mr. Tuan is also an enthusiastic and energetic Youth Union officer. Over the past 6 years, the Tay Ninh Electricity Youth Union has 10 affiliated branches with 172 youth union members, becoming a cohesive organization with many volunteer and social security activities contributing to the community.
These include activities such as voluntary blood donation, implementing projects to light up rural roads, repairing electricity for schools and poor households... and promoting sports, cultural and artistic competitions.
The activities help the Youth Union members to develop their professional capacity and contribute to promoting the spirit of volunteerism of the youth in the Electricity industry. In particular, last April, Mr. Tuan spread his passion by mobilizing more than 200 Youth Union members and employees to participate in the Ba Den Mountain Marathon 2023. Thereby, contributing to promoting the sports movement among the Youth Union members and improving the health of the company's employees.
From that activity, realizing the love of sports of the Youth Union as well as the staff, civil servants and employees of the company, Mr. Tuan planned to establish the Electricity Runner Group with nearly 100 Youth Union members, civil servants and employees participating. This is a model that he is very fond of and hopes it will become a healthy playground for the Youth Union of Tay Ninh Electricity in the near future.
