The project to build a bridge over Dao River connecting Song Hao Street to Vu Huu Loi Street in Nam Dinh City, Nam Dinh Province, has a total length of 1.6km; of which, the bridge over the river is 0.8km long, the approach roads at both ends of the bridge are 0.8km long. The project starts at the intersection of Tran Bich San Street and Song Hao Street, Tran Quang Khai Ward, and ends at the intersection with Vu Huu Loi Street in Nam Van Commune.
The bridge over the Dao River is a cable-stayed bridge with 16 spans, including 13 approach spans and 3 continuous girder spans. The bridge has a structure with 2 upper and lower parts, the upper part includes the main bridge, the approach bridge, and the cable-stayed system; the lower part includes a U-shaped bridge abutment and a reinforced concrete approach span pillar.
The cable-stayed system consists of two reinforced concrete towers 31.5m high, each side has 9 cable bundles designed to connect the beam blocks symmetrically through the tower body designed to simulate the shape of a lotus bud.
Up to now, the joint venture contractor is in the process of completing most of the bridge and approach road sections.
In which, the bridge section completed the construction of all pier bodies including 15 piers from T1 to T15 and 2 abutments M1, M2; installed super T girder supports for 12/13 spans and poured concrete for the floor slab from abutment M2 to pier T10 (on the side of Cua Nam ward) and from abutment M1 to pier T5 (on the side of Nang Tinh ward); cantilever box girders on main piers T8, T9 completed 256m/270m.
Currently, the contractor continues to cast the final girder segments to prepare for the main span closure, tension the prestressed cables, install the super T girder supports, pour concrete for the remaining approach spans and construct the approach roads on both sides of the bridge.
Regarding the access road, the joint venture contractor has completed the construction of the first-class crushed stone layer on most of the route: km1+180-km1+468.65 and the first-class crushed stone layer on branch A+B of DT490C intersection. In addition, the box culvert (1.5×1.2m) and B500 drainage culvert have been completed. Up to now, the estimated construction volume has reached 85% of the contract value.
The bridge over Dao River connecting Song Hao Street to Vu Huu Loi Street, once completed, will become an architectural highlight of Nam Dinh City.
The bridge project across Dao River is expected to create more leverage to promote the development of industrial parks, clusters, urban projects, and craft villages; making an important contribution to building and developing the city into a civilized and modern urban area according to the goals of the Resolution of the Nam Dinh Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term.
