On the morning of October 7, the Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team entered the final match of the women's Regu event with the leading candidate for the championship, Thailand. To be present in this final match, Vietnam won first place in Group A after 2 victories 2-1 against China and 2-0 against India. In the semi-finals, Coach Tran Thi Vui's students easily defeated Korea 2-0. Similarly, Thailand also won first place in the group after 2 victories against Korea and Myanmar. In the semi-finals, the Thais beat India 2-0.

Unlike the previous 4 women's event, Regu is a event in which Thailand is highly regarded for both men and women. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Thai girls dominated the competition and easily won the final match.
In set 1, the Vietnamese women's team with the trio Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen and Tran Thi Hong Nhung were the ones who were continuously behind. Although they tried very hard to catch up, they were unsuccessful, thereby losing 15-21 after 20 minutes of play. In the second set, the Thai girls played even better, they created a big gap of 12-6, 17-7, 18-10, before winning 21-12.
Losing 0-2 (15-21, 12-21) after 37 minutes of play, the Vietnamese women's team won the silver medal. Thus, at the end of the 19th Asian Games, Vietnam's sepak takraw won 1 gold medal (4-women's category), 1 silver medal (Regu women) and 1 bronze medal (Regu men). Sepak takraw is also one of the few most successful teams of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 19th Asian Games.
With the silver medal in sepak takraw, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation surpassed the UAE to return to 20th place with 3 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 17 bronze medals.
