Due to the impact of storm No. 2 and extreme weather phenomena, in Hanoi in recent days, the situation of rain, floods, inundation, and landslides has been complicated; water levels in major lakes and inland rivers are high.

Notably, according to the Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Hanoi City, floods have caused damage to production, business and people's lives related to flooding and landslides; there have been human losses in floods.

According to the assessment of the Hydro-Meteorological Station of the Northern Delta and Midlands, from now until August 2, 2024, the Northern region (including Hanoi) will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain, locally over 200mm; the risk of continued rain, floods, and landslides is very high.

To continue to quickly overcome the consequences of floods caused by storm No. 2, proactively respond to possible floods to ensure safety of life and minimize property damage for people in the coming time, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Hanoi City requests the People's Committees of districts, towns, departments, branches and sectors to continue to seriously implement the direction of the Central Government and the City.

Continue to closely monitor weather and natural disaster developments, proactively direct and deploy response work within authority, ensuring timeliness, effectiveness, and closeness to the actual situation in the area. Absolutely do not be negligent, subjective, or lose vigilance.

The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Hanoi City also requested departments, branches, sectors and localities to increase propaganda activities, disseminate instructions on skills to respond to heavy rains, floods, landslides and inundation so that people know, proactively prevent, avoid and minimize damage on information systems and social networks.

In addition, review and supplement forces to guard, control, guide, and support traffic safety through culverts, landslide areas or areas at risk of landslides, deeply flooded areas, areas with strong currents, and resolutely not allow people and vehicles to pass through if safety is not ensured. Prepare forces and means for rescue when situations arise.
