Regarding the case of Mr. Nguyen Cong Thang, Chairman of the Inspection Committee of Bac Ninh province, using a fake master's degree not issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, on the afternoon of October 30, in the hallway of the National Assembly, National Assembly deputies shared their views on this issue.
According to the conclusion at the conference on October 26, the Standing Committee of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee said that when defending his thesis and receiving his doctorate, Mr. Thang used a fake master's degree, then used his doctorate degree to take the promotion exam.
Mr. Thang was assessed to have violated Party regulations and State laws in using illegal diplomas, violating what Party members are not allowed to do and the responsibility to set an example. This violation affects the reputation of the Party organization and Mr. Thang personally.
The Standing Committee of Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee voted to consider disciplining Mr. Thang and report to the Central Inspection Commission.
Regarding this incident, delegate Pham Van Hoa - Member of the National Assembly's Law Committee, Dong Thap delegation pointed out that the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee is a standing agency of the Provincial Party Committee and a very important agency in preventing corruption and negativity.
This agency is responsible for handling, inspecting, and monitoring signs of violations by officials and party members, including officials and party members using fake degrees to facilitate promotions.
"I wonder why the case of using fake degrees to climb up to the position of Provincial Party Committee Inspectorate has not been discovered for all this time? The cadres should be exemplary and leading people, but they have hidden their mistakes until now," Mr. Hoa wondered.
Mr. Hoa believes that those who work in personnel management, especially in anti-corruption agencies, must have comprehensive qualities, ethics, and style in all areas. Only then can they set an example in handling violations.
But if a cadre is not good and hides things to get promoted, this is a cadre who takes advantage of others and "climbs high".

"In my opinion, this person must of course be subject to the Party's handling, but there needs to be more severe handling measures to set an example for other officials not wanting to, not daring to, commit similar acts," delegate Hoa emphasized.
Sharing the responsibility, the member of the National Assembly Law Committee said that the responsibility belongs to the advisory body in personnel work. That is the Organization Board of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee and the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee, because these are positions under the management of the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee but they let the violations slip through.
Therefore, in addition to handling the responsibility of dishonest cadres, there is also a great responsibility of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, especially the head of the Standing Committee.
Looking at this incident, according to National Assembly Delegate Truong Xuan Cu (Hanoi delegation), this is a very sad reality.
This is not an isolated case. There have been many similar cases in the past, even in the education sector there are teachers using fake degrees.
"In my opinion, the Party and State will definitely handle such violations very seriously," Mr. Cu said, emphasizing that it is impossible to tolerate or cover up dishonest and deceitful officials.
"We must always educate, warn, and continue to fight against cadres who show negative behavior," Mr. Cu expressed.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Thang, 40 years old, from Bac Ninh province. According to his personnel profile, he has a bachelor's degree in finance and banking; a bachelor's degree in law; a master's degree in economics with a major in business administration; a master's degree in law with a major in criminal law and criminal procedure; and a doctorate in economics with a major in political economy.
He used to be Secretary of Tien Du District Party Committee, then Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission before holding the position of Chairman of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee from June 2022 .
