Vietnam-Mozambique localities strengthen cooperation in potential fields

Within the framework of her official visit to the Republic of Mozambique, on the afternoon of September 11, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with Chairman of the Maputo City Council, Politburo member of the ruling Frelimo Party, Eneas Comiche at the headquarters of the Maputo City Council.

The Vice President emphasized that Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, has many deep ties with Vietnam, is home to Ho Chi Minh Avenue, a vivid symbol of solidarity and loyal friendship between the two peoples; and is also home to the largest Vietnamese community in Mozambique.

Regarding economic cooperation, Maputo is also the headquarters of the Movitel telecommunications joint venture, a typical economic cooperation project between the two countries.

The President of the Maputo City Council expressed her honor to have the opportunity to welcome Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, wishing that Maputo and Hanoi as well as other localities of Vietnam will promote cooperation in potential fields, contributing to deepening the good cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Mozambique.

The two sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges, bringing bilateral cooperation into depth, substance and effectiveness; sharing experiences in building the capital in the direction of innovation, modernity, and sharing experiences in urban management and urban environment.

The Vice President suggested that, taking advantage of the similarities, Maputo and Hanoi as well as Vietnamese localities should increase information exchange on cooperation opportunities in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, culture, education - training, and people-to-people exchange.

After the meeting, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and President of the Maputo City Council attended the inauguration ceremony of the new nameplate and painting on Ho Chi Minh Avenue.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President expressed his emotion and recalled the warm history of the relationship between the two countries when the first President of the independent Republic of Mozambique named one of the most beautiful avenues in the capital Maputo after President Ho Chi Minh in 1977.

Ho Chi Minh Boulevard has become a symbol of historical ties and sincere affection between generations of leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam and Mozambique.

President Eneas Comiche expressed pride and honor that the capital Maputo has an avenue named after President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader and national hero of Vietnam.

The inauguration of the new nameplate for Ho Chi Minh Boulevard by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan is a meaningful event, encouraging people of the two countries, especially the young generation, to inherit, preserve and promote the good traditional friendship between Vietnam and Mozambique.
