Lao Cai: Kim Thanh border gate clears customs 24/7

Regarding general import-export activities through Lao Cai Customs Department: From the beginning of the year to the end of March 2, 2024, the import-export turnover through the unit reached 239.3 million USD, an increase of 39.3% over the same period in 2023. Of which, exports reached 148.5 million USD, an increase of 35.7%; imports reached 90.7 million USD, an increase of 45.7%.

One day in mid-March, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hien (import-export staff, HNJ Company Limited, address in Lao Cai City) arrived early at Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II, Lao Cai to complete the export procedures for the Company's agricultural products.

“Our company specializes in exporting agricultural products, mainly dragon fruit and durian, with an average of about 7 trucks per day, including 2 trucks of durian and 5 trucks of dragon fruit. Although the volume of goods is not equal to the amount before the Covid-19 pandemic, it is much more vibrant than the same period last year. In particular, the Company's goods transactions with Chinese partners are stable, even during holidays and Tet, such as the recent Tet Giap Thin 2024, there was a day when the Company exported more than 20 trucks of agricultural products,” Ms. Le Thi Thu Hien happily shared.

Not only HNJ Company Limited but many businesses carrying out procedures at Lao Cai Customs Department expect that in 2024, export activities in particular and import-export activities in general through the area will achieve many impressive results.

Regarding customs procedures, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hien added: customs declaration is carried out through the VNACCS System, most of the exported agricultural products are classified into the Green channel, so customs clearance is quick. Although there are many export trucks every day, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hien only takes a little time in the morning every day to clear all of them. In addition, the Customs agency and functional forces at Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II work 7 days a week, so customs clearance on holidays is also convenient, businesses do not need to register in advance for procedures outside of working hours.

According to Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch (Lao Cai Customs Department), in the first two months of the year, the unit completed customs clearance procedures for goods with a total turnover of nearly 170 million USD, an increase of 20% over the same period in 2023.

Notably, export turnover reached 90.3 million USD, up 73%. Main export items: various types of peeled wood, dragon fruit, durian, charcoal. In particular, export turnover increased sharply due to agricultural products such as durian, dragon fruit, watermelon, cassava, etc.

Contributing to the above improvements, Deputy Head of Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh said that the unit's leaders regularly direct, inspect, urge, and thoroughly educate civil servants and arrange staff on duty to ensure quick settlement of customs procedures for businesses, creating favorable conditions for import and export of goods across the border.

In particular, the Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II (under the management of the Branch) has import and export activities taking place during holidays and Tet. Therefore, the Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch has developed a tight plan, fully arranged the force from the Branch's leaders to the working groups and civil servants on duty at the border gates to focus on handling administrative procedures, especially promoting the application of information technology in the management and control of customs clearance of goods to create the most favorable conditions for import and export activities to take place smoothly and ensure state management of customs.

At the beginning of the year, the volume of goods was not much, but compared to the same period in 2023, there has been an improvement. Hopefully, with Tra Linh border gate being upgraded to an international border gate (late 2023 - PV) and during the peak season from mid to late year, export activities will improve," Ms. Luc Thi To Uyen expected.

According to Cao Bang Customs Department, since the beginning of the year, import and export activities through the management unit have mainly taken place at Ta Lung, Tra Linh, Soc Giang border gates (Cao Bang) and Bac Kan Customs Branch.

By the end of February, 132 enterprises had completed import-export procedures at the Cao Bang Customs Department, an increase of 34 enterprises compared to the same period last year. Talking to reporters of Customs Magazine, Deputy Head of Tra Linh Border Gate Customs Branch (Cao Bang Customs Department) Le Thanh Nam said that the Branch always maintains the implementation of professional measures, carries out many useful solutions, creates favorable conditions for businesses to participate in import and export activities, search for goods sources, promote trade transactions, and carry out procedures for import and export goods through the border gate to increase revenue for the budget, while promoting administrative procedure reform and customs modernization.

In particular, the Department focuses on administrative procedure reform, customs modernization, application of information technology in professional and technical activities, maintaining 100% of records resolved through online public services...
