(CPV) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that the Brazilian Government soon recognize Vietnam's Economic Status, and at the same time suggested that Brazil continue to coordinate with member countries of the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) to promote the early launch of negotiations on the Vietnam - MERCOSUR Free Trade Agreement, contributing to continuing to increase the value of bilateral trade between the two countries.

On the afternoon of April 10, 2024, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Brazil Mauro Vieira, who is on an official visit to Vietnam from April 9-10, 2024.

At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed the second visit of the Brazilian Foreign Minister to Vietnam and, through the Minister, conveyed the regards and invitation to visit Vietnam in the near future from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the Chairman of the Workers' Party - President of Brazil Lula da Silva. On this occasion, Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira also conveyed the invitation from President Lula da Silva to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the G20 Summit in Brazil in November this year. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh happily accepted the invitation, saying that Vietnam highly appreciated the topics for the Summit proposed by Brazil and would continue to make positive contributions to the success of the G20 Summit and suggested that the Foreign Ministries of the two countries continue to coordinate closely to discuss, arrange and carefully prepare for the Prime Minister's visit and activities in Brazil at the upcoming G20 Summit.

The Prime Minister shared his good impressions of the country and people of Brazil during his visit in September 2023; highly appreciated the policies of the Government of President Lula da Silva to consolidate and enhance the economic and political position and positive role of Brazil in the region and the world and believed that the visit of Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira would contribute to further strengthening the Vietnam - Brazil Comprehensive Partnership; as a concrete step to implement the agreements of the two countries' senior leaders in recent times, especially in areas where the two countries have potential and demand, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development in the two regions and in the world.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his satisfaction with the recent important developments in the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Brazil as well as the good results of the official talks on April 10, 2024 between Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Minister Mauro Vieira; suggested that the two sides continue to coordinate closely to promote the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-ranking leaders between the two countries. The Prime Minister assessed that economic and trade cooperation is a field with great potential between the two countries as Brazil continues to be Vietnam's largest trade partner in Latin America and the second largest trade partner in the Americas with bilateral trade turnover continuously increasing in recent years and reaching 7.11 billion USD in 2023. Accordingly, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that the Brazilian Government soon recognize Vietnam's Economic Status, and at the same time suggested that Brazil continue to coordinate with member countries of the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) to promote the early launch of negotiations on the Vietnam - MERCOSUR Free Trade Agreement, contributing to continuing to increase the value of bilateral trade between the two countries, towards long-term cooperation between businesses of the two countries and bringing Vietnam - Brazil relations to a new level.

For his part, Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira sincerely thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for taking the time to receive the delegation and said that the Brazilian leaders highly appreciated the significance and importance of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Brazil in September 2023 for Vietnam - Brazil relations; expressed his pleasure to return to visit Vietnam and witness Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements since 2015 in all aspects. Minister Mauro Vieira affirmed that the Government of President Lula da Silva attaches importance to the role and position of Vietnam in the region; said that this visit aims to promote the results achieved during the Prime Minister's recent visit as well as strengthen other areas of cooperation, while preparing for President Lula da Silva's visit to Vietnam in the coming time.

In addition, the Minister said that Brazil is actively preparing for the G20 Summit, scheduled to be held in November 2024, and hopes that Vietnam will coordinate, exchange and develop content to contribute to the success of this important event; along with continuing to promote measures to strengthen bilateral relations, maintain the effectiveness of the Deputy Foreign Minister-level Political Consultation and resume the Intergovernmental Committee mechanism between the two countries, to review bilateral cooperation, propose directions to expand and deepen the Vietnam - Brazil Comprehensive Partnership, continue effective, substantive and long-term cooperation, towards elevating the relationship between the two countries in the coming time.

Minister Mauro Vieira also reported to the Prime Minister on the contents of the talks with Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son; said that the two sides had in-depth discussions on issues of mutual concern, proposed specific measures and agreed on the bilateral cooperation program between Vietnam and Brazil in the coming time, especially in areas of mutual strength and interest such as agriculture, science and technology, energy conversion, bioenergy, along with other areas of cooperation that both sides have needs and strengths such as Halal food production, culture, sports - football training, tourism, education and training, security - defense, people-to-people exchange; as well as increased support for mutual consultation at multilateral forums and international organizations./.
