Facing the French team ranked 6th in Europe, 21st in the world and having home field advantage, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team still entered the match confidently. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Tran Tu Linh, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Doan Thi Lam Oanh of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team competed on par with the tall players of the French team in game 1.

The effective attacking ability of the number 1 striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy helped the Vietnamese team continuously lead the French team, at times creating a gap of 4 points. However, the home team's players gradually narrowed the gap, equalizing 11/11. The two teams fiercely fought for the score until 19/19 and at the decisive moment of the first game, the home team France was lucky to have 2 consecutive points from the serve that bounced into the Vietnamese team's court, thereby rising to win 25/20. This was the game in which Tran Thi Thanh Thuy scored a total of 8 points for the Vietnamese team.

The hard-fought victory in the first set relieved some of the pressure on the French home team, allowing them to start the second set better. The French team used their serves effectively, making it difficult for the Vietnamese team to catch the first set. The gap in points was continuously widened by the French team, at times reaching 10 points (12/22) before they finally won by a margin of 25/16.

In game 3, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team played better, fiercely chasing the French team in the early stages. However, the home team's hitters including Cazaute, Botar, Giquel, Gicquel Lucille, Bauer played better and better, quickly leveling the gap before rising to win 25/17, closing out the final 3-0 victory over the Vietnamese women's volleyball team.
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team also received support from fans in France.
The victory over coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team brought the French team into the semi-finals of the 2023 World Volleyball Challenge Cup. While it was not possible to surprise the world's 21st ranked team, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy gained valuable experience in her career, when competing in the world volleyball tournament for the first time. "Garden crane" Thanh Thuy alone scored a total of 21 points - the player with the most points on the Vietnamese team.
