Accordingly, the Ministry of Transport assigned the Civil Aviation Authority to direct the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to fix unexpected damage and report incidents related to the field of airport and airport operations.
Northern Airports Authority supervises ACV and Vinh airport in fixing unexpected damage according to regulations.
At the same time, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is required to coordinate with ACV to increase regular and surprise technical inspections to promptly detect damage and violations of safety protection at Vinh airport and other airports nationwide.
From there, handle according to authority or recommend handling according to regulations to ensure absolute security and safety of activities at airports.
As VietNamNet reported, on the morning of July 3, Vinh airport's runway suddenly encountered an accident when a large piece of the asphalt concrete surface peeled off.
The incident caused many flights to change schedules or cancel. Some flights of airlines to Vinh airport were forced to divert to Tho Xuan airport - Thanh Hoa.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam later said that the initial cause was determined to be high temperatures causing blistering and peeling of the asphalt concrete on the runway surface.
The Northern Airport Authority has issued a decision to temporarily close this airport. After fixing the problem, Vinh airport resumed operations at 7:00 a.m. on July 4.
