In 2025, Vietnam and Poland will celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations. To mark this event, a logo design competition was held in October and November 2024, in cooperation between the Polish Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Embassy in Poland.
The competition attracted a large number of entries, including professional, semi-professional graphic designers and enthusiastic amateurs from both Poland and Vietnam. In total, there were 350 impressive entries, demonstrating the creative talent and fresh perspectives of artists from both countries.
The selected logos are not only aesthetically striking but also symbolise the strong bond between Vietnam and Poland. The winning designs will be used throughout the celebrations, serving as a visual testament to the shared values and historical ties that bind both countries.
The results of the competition were recently announced at a ceremony attended by Mr. Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski, Secretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ms. Joanna Skoczek, Head of Mission, Embassy of Poland in Vietnam. The event was also attended by representatives of the Vietnamese government and alumni of Polish universities to celebrate this innovative achievement.
The winners of the logo design contest are:
First Prize: Author Phan Thi Thanh Nhan
Second Prize: Author Nguyen Minh Do
Third Prize: Author Tran Thi Chiem
The first prize winner, Phan Thi Thanh Nhan, is a graphic designer with over 10 years of experience and currently lives in Ho Chi Minh City. The design was chosen because it represents the Polish-Vietnamese relationship. The logo features stylized numbers that reflect the Vietnamese flag and symbolize the Polish flag. Together, these two numbers form a sail on the waves, illustrating the connection between the two countries and recalling the presence of Polish ships in Vietnamese waters.
Many people in Vietnam still remember the famous Polish ship Kiliński that transported more than 80,000 Vietnamese people during the Geneva Accords.
Since 1950, Poland has welcomed more than 4,000 Vietnamese students, many of whom have taken on important roles in Vietnam’s government, arts and academia. One notable contributor to this relationship is Kazimierz Kwiatkowski ‘Kazik’, an architect and conservationist who has played a key role in preserving Vietnam’s cultural heritage sites in Hue, Hoi An and My Son.
In addition, nearly 120 Polish literary titles have been translated into Vietnamese, with Polish book corners established in five cities, promoting cultural exchange. The winning logo will represent the Vietnam-Poland friendship and highlight the history, respect and cooperation developed over the years. During the 75th anniversary, the logo will serve as a reminder of the strong relationship between the two countries and the strong commitment to cooperation in the future.
