On January 15, information from Ky Son District Medical Center (Nghe An) said that the center had just received a female patient who was brought to the emergency room in critical condition due to poisoning from medicine she bought online to treat her illness.
The medicine Ms. S. bought and took
This patient is Ms. KTS (38 years old, living in Pha Danh commune, Ky Son district), admitted to the hospital with pain and swelling of the lips, mouth, face and neck, red rash, chest pain, sore throat, and fatigue.
After examination and clinical tests, doctors diagnosed the patient with drug poisoning leading to liver and bone marrow failure.
The patient’s family said that Ms. S. had joint pain and rhinitis, so she had previously bought medicine advertised and sold online to treat it. This medicine is in powder form and is sold for 10,000 VND/package. Some people living in the same village as Ms. S. also ordered this medicine in large quantities to sell to others because it was advertised as a very effective treatment.
Doctors had to call for donations so that Ms. S's family could take her to Hanoi for treatment.
Ms. S. was diagnosed with severe poisoning and was transferred to a higher level for treatment. Due to Ms. S.'s difficult family circumstances, the hospital called for donations and support to help the family take Ms. S. to Hanoi for treatment.
