Previously on October 8, a woman set up a wedding tent that stretched more than ten meters on the Hanoi Highway, below Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien). The long row of tables occupied more than half of the lower lane, obstructing traffic. The party lasted until the afternoon, after which the tent was cleared. The incident was recorded by passersby and posted on social media, causing outrage.
According to Decision No. 32 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on sidewalk management, people are allowed to temporarily use a part of the sidewalk without a license in 5 cases: organizing weddings, funerals and parking lots serving weddings and funerals.
However, the homeowner must ask for permission, get approval from the authorities and ensure safety, order, traffic, and environmental sanitation. The time of use must not exceed 48 hours, and in special cases, it must not exceed 72 hours for funerals.
