The hospital strives to complete all unfinished items by the end of December 2023 to welcome inpatients, and the entire second facility will be operational by early 2024.
On the morning of November 20, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Tang Chi Thuong inspected the readiness to receive patients at the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, Facility 2 (201 Pham Viet Chanh, District 1).
At the time of inspection, the patient reception and examination and treatment area of the Orthopedic Hospital, Branch 2, was clean and spacious. Many examination rooms and some functional rooms were fully equipped, with a spacious waiting area... ready to serve patients.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong, when the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee handed over the Blood Transfusion and Hematology Hospital's real estate to the Orthopedic and Trauma Hospital for management, up to now, after nearly 3 weeks of urgent repairs, the hospital has officially put into use the clinics to reduce the overload of clinics at facility 1.
The clinic area is mainly used for re-examination and first aid. The upper floors are used for functional departments and inpatient treatment rooms, which are also being urgently repaired according to regulations. We will soon mobilize to release inpatient beds for post-operative patients and stable patients at facility 1 (929 Tran Hung Dao, Ward 1, District 5).
“The Orthopedic Trauma Hospital and construction units are urgently completing unfinished items, ready to welcome patients for examination and treatment, and the Ho Chi Minh City health sector also hopes that surrounding facilities will support and assist the hospital to come into operation, especially the Red Cross Society right next to the hospital,” informed Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, requested that hospitals urgently repair and install equipment to be ready to serve patients. |
At the same time, the hospital is required to strive to complete all unfinished items by the end of December 2023 to receive inpatients, and the entire facility 2 will be operational by early 2024. If facility 2 is operational, it will relieve 80-100 inpatient beds (accounting for about 1/3 of the old facility; and reduce ¼ of the number of patients coming to facility 1. This is a temporary but extremely meaningful solution and the health sector still hopes that the city will soon have a plan to build a new Orthopedic Trauma Hospital.
Doctor Chau Van Dinh, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic Hospital, said that after the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee handed over the above land and housing to the hospital, with close direction from the Department of Health, the hospital mobilized all resources and requested some equipment (beds, tables) from Field Hospital No. 13.
However, the above land area is just a frame, after 2 years of inactivity, all infrastructure has degraded and seriously damaged. The hospital must repair day and night according to regulations and progress for the clinic to operate. According to the plan, in 2 weeks, facility 2 will receive patients for examination.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong, in the immediate future, regarding land planning, in Tan Kien, the health sector has proposed the Department of Planning and Architecture to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. However, due to the large number of patients at facility 1, the health sector has requested to rebuild on the existing land.
