Bus stations, airports, and metros are crowded on December 25.

From morning to noon on December 25, bus stations, train stations, and airports in Ho Chi Minh City were crowded. Metro trains were also always packed with passengers.

On January 24 (December 25), the last working day before the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday, thousands of people were present at bus stations, airports, and train stations in Ho Chi Minh City to return home to celebrate Tet.

At the new Eastern Bus Station, hundreds of people were present in the lobby waiting for buses to depart. Yesterday (January 23), the new Eastern Bus Station took about 11,000 passengers out of the station with 464 trips.

On the morning of January 24, the new Eastern Bus Station became more bustling when this unit coordinated with LCH Foods Joint Stock Company (singer Lam Chan Huy) to organize a 0 VND bus trip, bringing 440 disadvantaged people to Nghe An and Ha Tinh to celebrate Tet. Sharing with the people, the male singer from Nghe An said that he was very moved to do a meaningful thing before the New Year, which is to bring the poor people back to their hometown to reunite with their families. He hopes that his contribution will share some of the difficulties with the people, helping them have a warm and complete Tet with their families.

Ms. Thu Huong's family (from Nam Dan, Nghe An) shared that bus tickets during the days before Tet have increased, about 2 million VND per person. Including food expenses, the couple and their young child will spend about 5 million VND to go home, which is a large amount of money for them. Therefore, when they were given sleeper bus tickets to go home, including food expenses along the way, they were very happy. "If we hadn't been given tickets, we wouldn't have dared to go home because we couldn't afford them. I couldn't sleep all night. Thank you, New Eastern Bus Station and singer Lam Chan Huy, for making it possible for us," Ms. Huong shared.

Many people in difficult circumstances are supported and sent home for free to celebrate Tet with their families.

Today, the old Eastern Bus Station (Binh Thanh District) and the Western Bus Station were also crowded with passengers. Mr. Tran Van Phuong, Deputy Director of the Western Bus Station, said that as of 12 noon on the same day, 794 buses had departed, taking 22,443 passengers to the Western provinces. Mr. Phuong assessed that this was one of the peak days serving people during the Lunar New Year this year.

Tan Son Nhat Airport also had a record volume today, with about 1,002 flights arriving and departing, serving 150,000 passengers. The check-in halls, waiting rooms, and the lanes for vehicles leaving the terminal outside were always packed with people.

Similarly, Giao thong Newspaper reporters noted that on the urban railway line, the number of people using the metro is very large. Among them, many people in the center use the metro to go to the new Eastern Bus Station to catch a bus back to their hometown.

Besides, many people take the opportunity to bring their relatives to experience the metro.

According to Urban Railway Company No. 1 (the metro line operator), since its launch, the metro line has welcomed 1.76 million passengers, an average of 109,915 passengers/day, 2.8 times higher than the forecast output.

During the upcoming Lunar New Year, the metro line will increase its daily operating hours to accommodate people traveling during the spring festival. From January 24 to 28 (25 to 29 of the Lunar New Year), the train will run from 5am to 11pm, one hour longer than usual.

In particular, on New Year's Eve, January 29 (the first day of the Lunar New Year), in addition to the schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., the metro will run from 0:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. to serve people and tourists who want to have fun and watch fireworks. From January 30 to February 2 (the second and fifth days of the Lunar New Year), the train will run from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
