Unlike previous days, most of the central roads of Ho Chi Minh City are clear and traffic is stable.
On January 13, according to Giao Thong Newspaper reporters, on many central streets of Ho Chi Minh City such as Dien Bien Phu, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nguyen Binh Khiem, Hang Xanh intersection... traffic is clear and vehicles move smoothly.
Previously, these routes were often jammed from 8am until noon.
Hang Xanh intersection is clear at 8:30 a.m. on January 13.
On Dinh Bo Linh Street, traffic is congested, stretching from the Dinh Bo Linh - Bach Dang intersection to Binh Trieu Bridge. This is a daily scene during rush hour on this route.
At Dien Bien Phu roundabout - where traffic jams are common during rush hour - it is also very clear. Some neighboring roads such as Vo Thi Sau, Hoang Sa - Truong Sa, Nguyen Binh Khiem... are not jammed.
Traffic is slightly congested in the area in front of Dien Bien Phu bridge, from Hang Xanh to Dien Bien Phu roundabout.
Ms. Minh Hanh (45 years old, living in Phu Nhuan) said that traffic jams have been happening continuously on Ho Van Hue Street for the past few days. However, this morning, vehicles were moving normally, only slightly congested at red lights," Ms. Hanh said. (In the photo, people are moving on Ho Van Hue Street at 9am on January 13).
In contrast to the center, at the northern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, serious traffic jams occur on Truong Chinh, Cong Hoa, Tan Ky Tan Quy streets... and the roads leading to Tan Son Nhat airport.
Since 7am, the line of people has been densely packed on the road. People move slowly to move; everyone is tired and uncomfortable. "This route is jammed every day, but in the past ten days, the jam has been more serious than before. Normally, it only takes me about 15-20 minutes to go from Cong Hoa Street to the city center, but these past few days it has taken an hour," said Nguyen Quang Truong (40 years old, living in Tan Binh District).
Traffic jams last too long, people ignore heavy fines and climb onto the sidewalk to move.
People on the bus were also impatient because they had to stand on the road for dozens of minutes.
The situation is similar at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City. This morning, people traveling on Hanoi Highway were also stuck in a long traffic jam.
"The section from Binh Thai intersection to MK intersection is only 1km but it took me 40 minutes to move on the road," said Ms. Hang (40 years old, living in Thu Duc City).
After Decree 168/2024 was implemented, Ho Chi Minh City residents did not dare to turn right at red lights for fear of heavy fines, leading to serious traffic jams and congestion. To limit this situation, the Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, installed dozens of auxiliary signs allowing motorbikes to turn right at red lights.
