Capture fugitive wanted for 28 years

On January 3, information from Nam Dinh Provincial Police said that the Economic Police Department of Nam Dinh Provincial Police had escorted Tran Thi Binh (73 years old, residing in Truong Thi Ward, Nam Dinh City, Nam Dinh Province) from Bien Hoa City (Dong Nai Province) to Nam Dinh Provincial Police headquarters after 28 years of being on the run.

According to records, in March 1996, Tran Thi Binh and her husband Tran Anh Thach (same age, living in the same place) committed the crime of "abuse of trust to appropriate property" and fled their residence.

On July 17, 1996, Nam Dinh City Police issued a wanted notice for Tran Thi Binh and Tran Anh Thach for "abuse of trust to appropriate property". The couple then fled to Bien Hoa City, cut off contact with relatives, did not make personal papers, did not register for temporary residence, and worked for hire to make a living.

In life, Tran Thi Binh and her husband always showed themselves to be calm people, avoiding causing conflicts with others to avoid being noticed. In 2003, Tran Anh Thach passed away due to illness.

During the process of screening and searching for long-time fugitives, the Economic Police Department of Nam Dinh Province Police discovered Tran Thi Binh hiding in Bien Hoa City, so they organized a manhunt.

On January 2, Nam Dinh Provincial Police coordinated with local police to arrest Tran Thi Binh and extradite her to Nam Dinh Provincial Police headquarters.

At the police station, Tran Thi Binh admitted to the crime of "abuse of trust to appropriate property" 28 years ago.

The Economic Police Department of Nam Dinh Provincial Police has handed over the wanted fugitive to Nam Dinh City Police to complete the case file for handling according to the provisions of law.
