The contest was organized by VietNamNet newspaper with the purpose of allowing participants to share beautiful stories and memories about their hometown river or any river in Vietnam that the author has been attached to in their life.
In addition, the contest is also an opportunity for authors to reflect on issues of economic and cultural development along rivers, expressing wishes, plans and ideas to promote sustainable development on rivers and for the community...

After 4 months of launching, the organizing committee received 472 articles. Of these, 96 entries made it to the preliminary round and were selected to be published in VietNamNet newspaper. According to the evaluation of the Jury, the contest received many quality works, recording stories that are realistic, have many impacts and influences on the development of rivers in Vietnam.
Many authors not only invest in the content of the article, but also invest in images and videos to increase the appeal. In the end, author Tong Phuoc Bao won the first prize (worth 50 million VND) with the work Long Tau: Where the river stays.
Authors Ngo Tu Ngan and Tran Thi Hong Hieu won Second Prize (each prize worth 30 million VND) with their works Saigon River: Deep in History, Wide in Humanity; Upstream of Nhat Le (2 articles).
The Organizing Committee also awarded 3 Third Prizes (each worth 10 million VND) to authors Ha Thanh Van with the work Finding the place where the Da River enters Vietnam; author Nguyen Nhu Phong with the work My hometown's Day River and author Nguyen Thi Hau with the work How many rivers can one cross in a lifetime.

The Organizing Committee also awarded 12 Impression prizes (each prize worth 11 million VND including cash and gifts) to 12 authors whose works impressed readers.
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Ba, Editor-in-Chief of VietNamNet newspaper, thanked the enthusiastic response of authors from all over the country, including many famous writers. He also highly appreciated the close follow-up and enthusiastic support of a large number of VietNamNet readers.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ba shared: "I do not think that "The Story of the Rivers" is a talent contest but a journey together of many people who love rivers, are passionate about the flow of rivers, and are yearning for beautiful, peaceful rivers, rivers that resonate with the development of their homeland and country... Therefore, I think that, on that journey, this contest is just an inspiring opening but also full of confusion."
