Dong Nai province has completed handing over the entire area of more than 2,500 hectares to serve the Long Thanh International Airport Project Phase 1.

The Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project has a total area of approximately 5,000 hectares. Of which, phase 1 of the project has an area of over 2,500 hectares.

Officially launched at the end of 2017, Dong Nai has completed handing over the entire phase 1 site of the project to relevant units.

Mr. Le Van Tiep, Chairman of Long Thanh District People's Committee, said that currently, the entire area of 1,810 hectares for the construction of Long Thanh airport phase 1 and 722 hectares of surplus land reserve area have completed site clearance and been handed over to relevant units.

In fact, with a large area of land to be recovered and complicated land records, the completion and handover of the entire phase 1 of the project recognized the great efforts of the units participating in land recovery, compensation, support and resettlement.

Long Thanh International Airport project was planned for construction more than 20 years ago.

Therefore, with land data sources that are more than 20 years old and have a series of errors compared to the actual land use status when implementing land acquisition, site clearance work has to face many difficulties and challenges.

According to the People's Committee of Long Thanh district, after a long waiting period, land data in the project area has not been updated or supplemented, causing errors in the origin and current status of land use to occur very commonly.

For example, before 2003, red books issued to people were often handwritten instead of printed as they are today.

Also during that time, the technology system for managing land data was still outdated, so duplicate and incorrect land allocations occurred a lot.

In addition to more than 2,500 hectares of land serving phase 1 of the project, Dong Nai must continue to reclaim land and clear nearly 2,500 hectares of other land to serve the next phases.

In the remaining area of the project, there are nearly 2,000 hectares of land under the use of more than 4,500 households and individuals.

To date, Long Thanh district has completed approving compensation and support plans for more than 4,400 cases. At the same time, as of early July, Long Thanh district has handed over more than 102 hectares of land in this area to relevant units.

To strive to achieve the goal of completing all site clearance work for the Long Thanh International Airport Project in July 2023, the authorities of Long Thanh district are completing all relevant documents for the last 56 cases of the project that have not yet had their compensation and support plans approved.

According to the People's Committee of Long Thanh district, in the last 56 cases of projects that have not had their compensation and support plans approved, 21 cases have had their plans made public by the locality.

For the remaining 35 cases, the compensation council is urgently focusing on completing the documents to publicly implement the compensation and support plan.

At the working session with the People's Committee of Long Thanh district and related units on the progress of the land acquisition, compensation and resettlement support project of Long Thanh Airport project in early July, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc requested Long Thanh district to focus on and speed up the completion of related documents for the remaining cases of the project that have not yet had their compensation and support plans approved.

Dong Nai province aims to complete the entire project in July 2023.
