Silver price today January 25, domestic and world silver prices tend to decrease after the previous strong increase.
Today's silver price at Phu Quy Jewelry Group, silver price decreased slightly, listed at 1,148,000 VND/tael (buy) and 1,184,000 VND/tael (sell) in Hanoi.
In addition, according to a survey at other trading locations in Hanoi, silver prices reversed and decreased, currently listed at VND949,000/tael (buy) and VND983,000/tael (sell).
In Ho Chi Minh City, silver prices also decreased, currently at 951,000 VND/tael (buy) and 988,000 VND/tael (sell). World silver prices decreased slightly, currently at 776,000 VND/ounce (buy) and 781,000 VND/ounce (sell).
In the precious metals group, silver lost nearly 2% of its value to $30.84/ounce. Precious metal prices were under pressure during the session due to uncertainty about the interest rate decision of the US Federal Reserve (FED) at the upcoming meeting on January 28-29.
After two years of surprisingly good inflation and economic growth, the Fed meets next week to assess the Trump administration’s new policies, and the bond market will follow. These uncertainties pose potential challenges in an economy where inflation is creeping closer to the Fed’s 2% target, but has avoided recession and unemployment has risen sharply.
Accordingly, most financial markets are betting that the Fed will keep interest rates unchanged at next week's meeting after cutting them by 1 percentage point since last September. The CME Group's interest rate tracker shows that the probability of the Fed not cutting interest rates next week is now at 99.5%. The Fed keeping interest rates higher than previously expected could put pressure on precious metals prices, especially when geopolitical conflicts have shown signs of cooling down recently.
