iPhone owners will need to be more careful with their device's screen, as Apple has just announced changes to its warranty policy.

The news comes in a new report that Apple will no longer offer free repairs for minor cracks on iPhone and Apple Watch screens. Instead, these cases will be considered “accidental damage” and users will have to pay for the repair.

This is a notable change, as Apple has previously supported free repairs for minor cracks in the screen, as long as they do not affect the display quality. However, as noted by 9to5Mac, new warranty regulations have been sent to Apple Stores and authorized repair shops, stating that "minor cracks" will no longer be covered under Apple's standard warranty.

This means iPhone and Apple Watch users will have to pay to repair cracked screens, even if they are just minor cracks. However, free repairs still apply to iPads and Macs, depending on the extent of the damage and the cause of the problem.

The new rule, which went into effect at Apple Stores and authorized repair shops this week, means users will have to take extra care when caring for their iPhone and Apple Watch screens.

Although Apple did not provide a specific reason for the change, many believe that the company wants to encourage users to buy the AppleCare+ insurance package. This insurance package provides repair and replacement services at a lower cost than out-of-warranty repairs. This is considered a strategy of Apple to increase revenue from after-sales services.

The change only applies to iPhones and Apple Watches, while devices like iPads and Macs are still covered by free screen repairs under their standard warranties. However, whether or not you qualify for a free repair depends on the extent of the damage and the cause of the problem.
