Now that Apple has released its new, more affordable iPhone 16e, attention is turning to what other products the company could announce this spring.
According to leaked news, in addition to the iPhone 16e, Apple has 3 upgraded products before the end of spring. If lucky, Apple may even surprise with a completely new product.
MacBook Air M4
Apple is expected to refresh the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air with a more powerful M4 chip.
There will be no design changes, the main focus will still be on processor upgrades. According to Bloomberg expert Mark Gurman, new MacBook Air models are "coming soon" and will likely appear in late spring.
Gurman noted that MacBook Air inventory at Apple stores is running low, a sign that new versions could be coming very soon.
iPad Air
The iPad Air will be upgraded with an M3 or M4 chip, and could launch alongside a cheaper Magic Keyboard that Apple is developing for the entry-level iPad lineup.
Some leaks have suggested that the iPad Air will use the M3 chip, while the new iPad Pro line will have the M4 chip. However, Gurman noted in January that Apple may opt for the M4 chip for the iPad Air.
Also in January, a leaker who had previously provided accurate information revealed that the iPad Air 7 would use an M3 chip, not an M4.
Aside from the chip upgrade, no major hardware or design changes are expected. Similar to the new MacBook Air, the iPad Air is also expected to launch soon.
Cheap iPad
Apple is reportedly working on an 11th-generation iPad with faster chips and Wi-Fi 6E support.
The tablet could also use Apple's self-designed C1 modem chip, which was recently introduced on the iPhone 16e.
According to Gurman, the next low-cost iPad will use the A17 Pro chip - the same chip found in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPad mini 7. The A17 Pro supports Apple Intelligence, which means the new iPad model will likely come with at least 8GB of RAM - the minimum to run Apple's AI features.
Apple's supply chain has reportedly started shipping these devices since December 2024.
Smart home control center
Apple is developing a HomeKit accessory that serves as a smart home control hub.
This accessory is designed to resemble an iPad and will act as a “command center” to manage smart devices in the home.
According to Bloomberg 's Mark Gurman, the device could be released as early as 2025. However, he also said that Apple may have to delay the launch due to its dependence on features in iOS 18.4 and iOS 19.
Gurman believes this could be Apple's most important product of the year, marking the company's big move into the smart home market.
The device is expected to have a 6- or 7-inch display, an A18 chip, and support for Apple Intelligence. Gurman said it could be attached to a desk stand or mounted on a wall with built-in speakers.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the smart home hub won't appear until Q2 or Q3 2025. In February, Gurman revealed that the smart home hub launch is "still months away."
