Apple has just officially stopped signing iOS 18.2.1, thereby preventing iPhone users running iOS 18.3 from downgrading to this old iOS version.
"Apple" has officially locked the iOS 18.2.1 sign |
Apple regularly stops signing iOS versions, usually within a week or two of a new iOS release. When an update is stopped signing, it won’t be able to install on an iPhone due to server-side software verification checks.
And this time too, just over a week after releasing the iOS 18.3 update, “Apple” has officially locked the iOS 18.2.1 sign. This policy is to encourage iPhone users to update the new operating system for their devices, to ensure the biggest security improvements.
iOS 18.3 brings a number of Apple Intelligence updates and over 20 security updates. One of those fixes addresses a vulnerability that may have been actively exploited on some devices, demonstrating why keeping iOS up to date is important.
Thus, when iPhone users have upgraded to the latest iOS 18.3 version, they will no longer be able to downgrade to iOS 18.2.1.
