The Lunar New Year has ended, but the consequences of firecrackers have left many victims with injuries. The victims are mainly teenagers and children, many of whom suffered serious injuries that left long-term sequelae, even requiring emergency surgery.

Notably, many accidents occur due to the use of homemade fireworks or participation in illegal fireworks, endangering not only oneself but also those around.

A typical case is that of Mr. CVC (37 years old, Nghe An) who was admitted to the emergency room at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital on January 31 (the 3rd day of Tet) due to a firecracker accident.

The accident left Mr. C. blind, with a swollen jaw, a fracture of the lower third of his right humerus, a complex fracture of both bones in his right forearm, and a wound on his left hand. This was a serious injury that threatened his ability to move and perform normal activities.

Also having an accident due to firecrackers, a young man named NHH (24 years old, Vinh Phuc) was hospitalized on January 29 (the first day of Tet). The accident caused Mr. H. to have his second finger of his right hand crushed and dislocated. This injury was not only painful but also seriously affected his ability to move and perform daily activities.

These are just 3 cases out of 33 cases of firecracker accidents during the Tet holiday treated at Viet Duc Hospital. According to doctors, firecrackers are a potential danger that can cause serious damage to organs in the body, especially the hands and eyes.

The consequences of these accidents are not only injuries, but also the loss of the ability to work and live normally. These injuries can leave permanent sequelae.

Accidents caused by firecrackers are on the rise, especially during Tet.

Every year, the hospital receives many emergency cases caused by fireworks, leaving serious consequences, changing the lives of the victims.

Go to a medical facility immediately in case of firecracker accident.

Despite many warnings, the number of accidents caused by firecrackers continues to increase every Tet holiday, becoming an alarm bell about violations of regulations and subjectivity in the use of firecrackers.

Doctors also recommend that when an accident occurs, first aid should be given properly and the victim taken to the nearest medical facility for timely treatment.

To avoid the risk of wound infection, people should not arbitrarily apply leaves to wounds, but should go to medical facilities for regular check-ups and examinations.
