The changing weather creates favorable conditions for viruses, bacteria and molds to grow, causing many skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, skin fungus, etc.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung, a specialist in Dermatology - Dermatology, Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, said that skin diseases when the weather changes are skin irritations due to weather conditions, external climate and develop depending on each person's constitution. The disease can occur in anyone, but is more common in people with sensitive skin and weak immune systems. Below are common skin diseases caused by changing weather.

Atopic dermatitis : Symptoms include dry skin, flaking, redness, itching, burning pain, blisters... appearing in many places on the body. The cause of atopic dermatitis can be due to sudden changes in air, temperature, humidity and other external factors. The disease is common in people with sensitive skin, easily irritated, weakened immune systems or frequent exposure to chemicals.

Skin diseases caused by insects : The changing seasons are favorable conditions for insects to develop. Common disease-causing insects are bedbugs, mosquitoes, and ants. After being bitten by insects or exposed to their secretions, many red papules will appear on the skin, with blisters and pustules in the middle.

Skin fungus : This disease accounts for a high proportion of skin diseases, often occurring during the transitional season and high humidity. Symptoms of fungal infection are usually round red patches, blisters, raised edges, dryness and itching. Depending on the condition of the disease, doctors will prescribe appropriate antifungal drugs. In addition, skin fungus can be transmitted from pets to humans through direct contact. Therefore, pets should be treated for fungus to avoid infection.

Sun-induced diseases : Exposure to harsh sunlight, in addition to sunburn, skin darkening, aging, acne, eczema, atopic dermatitis, bullous disease, lupus erythematosus, ... will be worse. Moreover, long-term exposure to ultraviolet rays will increase the risk of skin cancer.

Dr. Kim Dung added that, in addition to skin diseases, low humidity and dry weather make the skin prone to peeling and cracking... This not only affects aesthetics but also causes pain, burning, and itching. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to care and moisturizing to keep the skin healthy from the inside, preventing skin diseases from the outside.

Increase skin hydration : Moisturize twice daily with products that are suitable for your skin, natural ingredients, and free of irritants.

Exfoliate regularly : Exfoliating twice a week not only removes the favorable environment for bacteria or fungi to grow, but also helps nutrients penetrate easily, leaving skin bright, healthy and smooth.

Use sunscreen : When the weather changes seasons, especially on harsh sunny days with a large amount of UV rays that are harmful to the skin, you should apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher at least 30 minutes before going out to protect your skin.

Drink enough 1.5-2 liters of water per day : Helps hydrate, limit oiliness, peeling and dry skin when changing seasons.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung noted that as soon as inflammation and skin fungus appear, patients should see a dermatologist - cosmetic dermatologist to be examined and diagnosed for the cause of the disease, and then develop an appropriate treatment regimen. Do not self-treat or delay the time to see a doctor because it can cause infection or lead to more serious complications.
