40 years of innovation and vision 2045

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, along with more than 200 delegates from Party agencies, ministries, branches, research and training institutes, representatives of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam and experts from the host country attended.

The workshop aims to analyze and make policy recommendations on important development issues of the country, contributing to realizing Vietnam's development vision to 2045. The research results are expected to be input for the drafting of the 40-year Renovation Summary Report and the draft documents to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress.

At the workshop, delegates listened to presentations on six topics identified as central to Vietnam's development: Global megatrends; Reforming the public governance system; Overcoming the middle-income trap; Reforming the financial sector in Vietnam; Urbanization and sustainable development.

This was followed by a discussion with Australian scholars from Curtin University, RMIT University and the University of Adelaide, along with speakers from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank (WB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Oxfam in Vietnam.

Speaking at the workshop, comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized the importance of the research series serving to summarize 40 years of Vietnam's renovation and scientific research cooperation between Australian and Vietnamese experts.

It also demonstrates the political trust and commitment to knowledge sharing between the two countries. He affirmed that this cooperation will continue to strengthen the Vietnam-Australia relationship that has been built and nurtured over the past 50 years and is growing, especially the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that the two countries have just upgraded.

Mr. Andrew Goledzinowski, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, expressed his impression of the efforts of nearly 40 Australian and Vietnamese experts in collaborating on research. The Ambassador emphasized: We are working hard to support Vietnam in realizing its vision for 2045.

Our relationship has never been stronger and we will continue to work together in areas of mutual interest, building on the trust set out in our joint statement upgrading the Australia-Vietnam relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
