Taking place in Da Nang on August 26, “I Dreamed A Dream” became one of the biggest Vietnamese fashion shows of the year. The performance broke the limits, pioneered a new way of doing shows, bringing unprecedented experiences to guests. The application of the most advanced technology was also a unique mark.
Elaborate, futuristic catwalk
With “I Dreamed A Dream”, Chung Thanh Phong became the first Vietnamese designer to build a catwalk inside the auditorium of the five-star InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.
In the past, many fashion shows took place in resorts. However, fashion houses often took advantage of the available natural landscape or launched their collections in closed spaces, without setting up a stage to avoid affecting the interior and architecture of the auditorium.
The permission to build a runway in a beautiful and unique wedding room shows the trust of the two units, contributing to affirming the stature of the "brand" Chung Thanh Phong.
For the first time, a dramatic “art show” was presented to connoisseurs; when the surrealist catwalk was placed in the heart of Indochine-inspired architecture designed by famous American architect Bill Bensley.
Bensley was rated by Time Magazine as the “king” of the most charming resorts on the planet. His projects are so detailed that the architect is “framed” as a “maximalist”.
This posed a big challenge for the entire crew, because the stage had to be both futuristic and retain Bensley's design spirit - two contrasting schools of thought that, when placed side by side, still had to harmonize.
In addition, lighting was also a “difficult problem” because it was necessary to calculate how the light from the lamps would blend with the natural light, shining down from the transparent ceiling. With the direction of director Nguyen Hieu Tam, an impressive catwalk finally became a reality. The transparent crystal blocks made of mirror aluminum with origami block construction techniques were skillfully and reasonably emphasized on the winding runway, drawing the image of a surreal land as the designer's idea.

Applying a series of leading modern technologies
“I Dreamed A Dream” is also a pioneering show in applying modern technology. Instead of the familiar red carpet to welcome guests, designer Chung Thanh Phong turned the space of an auditorium into a magical studio. The crew used 150 cameras, applied bullet time, and created AI effects for the videos.
Bullet time is an optical illusion that makes the viewer feel that people and the surrounding scenery are motionless and only the camera is rotating around the subject as if time is slowing down. This effect was first applied in the 1999 movie “The Matrix” and was so successful that the term “bullet time” is used to refer to this effect to this day.
In addition, Chung Thanh Phong is also the first Vietnamese designer to perform a drone show for 12 minutes in the sky of Da Nang to thank guests and sponsors. At exactly 9:15 p.m., 400 Hidrone drones appeared, flying up from the shore to the excited cheers of the audience. The audience gasped as the light spots continuously transformed into logos and words honoring the brands that contributed to the success of the show. The performance ended with the words "Deeply Thankful" amid the audience's applause.
"Shake hands" to create class
The event also marked the first time a collection of diamonds worth tens of billions of dong was crafted exclusively for Haute Couture wedding dresses in the show, emphasizing uniqueness and luxury. Designer Chung Thanh Phong "teamed up" with Three Trees to create the "Enchanted Reverie" collection consisting of 37 designs, including 20 limited edition models.
Each piece is crafted with exquisite techniques. Interwoven with sparkling gemstones are delicate motifs to honor the beauty of the bride on her big day. "Enchanted Reverie" conveys a fairy tale of eternal love.
The impressive success of I Dreamed A Dream also comes from the meticulous and personalized care for each guest. Each guest attending the show received a gift bag expressing the designer's affection and respect, including: a card and an art lamp with their name, bird's nest, a tote bag, a skincare set from the Korean brand KyungLab, Mira alkaline ionized water...
