On the afternoon of October 25, answering VTC News, Mr. Dang Van Ky - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dai Loc district, Quang Nam province, confirmed that in the district, dozens of students had just been hospitalized after eating yogurt. The incident occurred at Nguyen Ngoc Binh Primary School (Dai Hiep commune, Dai Loc district).

According to Mr. Ky, at 1pm yesterday (October 24), after waking up from their afternoon nap, nearly 300 students of Nguyen Ngoc Binh Primary School were given yogurt and ate it right at the school's boarding area. About 30 minutes later, 15 students (including 11 4th graders) showed symptoms of stomachache, vomiting, and fatigue.

Students showing signs of food poisoning were taken to Dai Hiep Commune Health Station, then transferred to the Northern Mountainous Region General Hospital of Quang Nam for emergency treatment.

Doctor Le Cong Huyt - Head of the Pediatrics Department - Quang Nam Northern Mountainous Region General Hospital - said that at the time of admission, all 15 students showed signs of vomiting and abdominal pain. "After being admitted to the hospital, the condition of the 15 children has gradually stabilized. It is expected that today, some of them will be discharged home. The remaining cases, especially the 2 students with enteritis, continue to be monitored and are expected to be discharged early next week," said Doctor Huyt.

Immediately after the suspected food poisoning incident occurred, the leaders of Dai Loc district directed the district's Medical Center to collect yogurt samples for testing. "Up to now, the authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the incident in which 15 students showed signs of poisoning and had to be hospitalized. For now, we have asked the school to keep all food samples from yesterday so that the authorities can continue to investigate and clarify" - Vice Chairman of Dai Loc District People's Committee Dang Van Ky added.
