In a recent move, YouTube has decided to go even further by skipping entire videos if it detects that users are using ad blockers. This isn't the first time YouTube has made such a move, but this time, the measure is said to be more powerful.
Accordingly, when users turn on the ad blocker, the video will automatically skip to the end, making it almost impossible to watch the video without turning off the ad blocker. Even if the user tries to replay the video or move the cursor to a certain part of the clip, the video will reload continuously without allowing normal viewing.
YouTube continues to "strongly" punish users using ad blockers
Over the past year, YouTube has been experimenting with ways to reduce the use of ad blockers. Initially, the platform simply displayed a message asking users to turn off their ad blockers, but this approach was ineffective because the message was often ignored. YouTube then tried limiting the streaming performance of videos, but this also failed to achieve the desired results.
Now, with the option to skip videos to the end, YouTube hopes to force users to choose between turning off their ad blockers or subscribing to YouTube Premium, showing that YouTube is determined to protect its advertising revenue.
With YouTube’s increasingly harsh measures, users are left with two options: Turn off the ad blocker, or sign up for YouTube Premium. YouTube Premium, for a small monthly fee, offers an ad-free viewing experience, along with other attractive features such as offline video downloads and background music listening.
While smarter ad blockers may emerge in the future to deal with YouTube's measures, for now, subscribing to YouTube Premium seems to be the most viable solution to continue experiencing YouTube smoothly and uninterrupted.
