On March 29, Leicester City announced that Kirk had been fired after an internal investigation. "Coach Willie Kirk has been found to have breached the club's code of conduct, so serious that his position at the club must be reviewed," Leicester's homepage said.
The Guardian revealed that Kirk was suspended from his job earlier this month, after it emerged that he had an affair with a female player on the Leicester team. Since then, the "Foxes" have lost all of their matches in the English Women's Championship.
Coach Willie Kirk was accused of violating professional ethics.
Kirk joined Leicester as Director of Football in July 2022, moving to the women's team at the end of the year, and helped the club stay in the Premier League last season.
The Leicester Women scandal comes just a month after the club’s former manager, Jonathan Morgan, was also accused of similar behaviour. Morgan was sacked after Sheffield United Women discovered he had an affair with a player during his time in charge of Leicester Women (2014-2021).
Mr. Morgan later admitted the incident to The Athletic. The mother said the female player was only 17 when she started her relationship with Coach Morgan. She accused this coach of taking advantage of her daughter's lack of knowledge.
Meanwhile, Mr Morgan stressed that the girl was 18 years old at the time of their intimacy. In the case of coach Kirk, Leicester has kept the identity of the female player involved in the incident a secret. However, the Telegraph revealed that this is a regular first-team player.
