Request to suspend the principal who arbitrarily transferred schools in Kien Giang

TPO – The Standing Committee of Vinh Thuan District Party Committee (Kien Giang) assigned the District People's Committee to suspend Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Principal of Thi Tran Secondary School for arbitrarily transferring the school to a new facility without the district's decision.

On August 29, a source from Tien Phong reporter said that Vinh Thuan District Party Committee (Kien Giang) has just announced the conclusion of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee on transferring Thi Tran Secondary School from its facility in Vinh Dong 1 ward (Vinh Thuan town) to a new facility in Vinh Phuoc 2 ward.

Specifically, the Standing Committee of Vinh Thuan District Party Committee requested to stop transferring teaching and learning facilities, equipment, and personnel of Thi Tran Secondary School to the new facility.

The above decision was made because the recent school transfer process was not in accordance with regulations, the preparation time was not guaranteed and there was no opinion from the District People's Committee. The principal's decision to transfer the campus of Thi Tran Secondary School caused negative public opinion and lack of consensus among staff, teachers and parents.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Thi Tran Secondary School will continue to open, teaching and learning at the facility in Vinh Dong 1 neighborhood.

The Standing Committee of Vinh Thuan District Party Committee assigned the District People's Committee to suspend Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Principal of Thi Tran Secondary School. The reason was that he arbitrarily moved the facilities from the school in Vinh Dong 1 ward to Vinh Phuoc 2 ward without the opinion of the District People's Committee, causing negative public opinion among the people.

At the same time, the District People's Committee was assigned to urgently conduct an inspection of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong's responsibilities and handle violations (if any).

As Tien Phong reported, before the new school year 2024 - 2025, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Principal of Thi Tran Secondary School arbitrarily sent people to transport the school's desks, chairs, and equipment to a new facility in Vinh Phuoc 2 neighborhood. Parents and teachers have not received notice of this school transfer, nor has there been an approval decision from the People's Committee of Vinh Thuan district.

On August 23, the People's Committee of Vinh Thuan district held a press conference about the school transfer. At the press conference, the leaders of Vinh Thuan district explained that the district had a policy to transfer Thi Tran Secondary School to a new location. However, the Department of Education and Training was slow in carrying out the procedures, while the new school year was approaching, so the school principal was somewhat impatient and arbitrarily carried it out early.
