Request to suspend the principal who arbitrarily transferred things to the new school

On the afternoon of August 29, the Vinh Thuan District Party Committee made an initial conclusion about the Principal of Thi Tran Secondary School (Vinh Thuan Town, Kien Giang Province) arbitrarily hiring people to transport desks, chairs, and equipment to another school without prior notice to the new school year. The incident caused public outrage for a long time.

Accordingly, Vinh Thuan District Party Committee requested the District People's Committee to suspend Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Principal of Thi Tran Secondary School. In addition, it is necessary to inspect his responsibility and have specific conclusions, if there are any violations, to handle them according to regulations.

Vinh Thuan District also requested to stop the transfer of Thi Tran Secondary School to the new facility (including the transfer of cadres, civil servants, teachers, staff, students and facilities) in Vinh Dong 1 ward to Vinh Thuan Town Primary and Secondary School in Vinh Phuoc 2 ward.

Because the school transfer process was not in accordance with the process, the preparation time was not guaranteed, the District People's Committee did not give instructions; the consensus was not high among staff, teachers, and parents of students, causing public outrage.

Vinh Thuan District Party Committee informed that the 2024-2025 school year will start and teach at Thi Tran Secondary School (ie the old campus, in Vinh Dong 1 neighborhood, Vinh Thuan town).

The District People's Committee directed the Department of Education and Training and school leaders to urgently prepare conditions, clean, arrange classrooms and facilities, equipment, ensure safety for students to study, and serve the opening of the 2024-2025 school year at the school in Vinh Dong 1 neighborhood.

As Dan Tri reported, previously, on August 23, Vinh Thuan District People's Committee coordinated with the Department of Information and Communications of Kien Giang province to hold a press conference to clarify related information.

At the press conference, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Nguyen - Vice Chairman of Vinh Thuan District People's Committee - said that at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, Vinh Thuan District Party Committee has a policy to move Thi Tran Secondary School from Vinh Dong 1 residential area to a new facility in Vinh Phuoc 2 residential area (the two schools are 3km apart).

However, this is just a project, the agency has not yet had any official documents directing the transfer of facilities and equipment from the old school to the new school.

Mr. Nguyen said that the principal's act of arbitrarily moving desks, chairs, and equipment from the old school to the new school was hasty.

Regarding the information that Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong proposed to spend 2.8 billion VND for relocation costs, the Vice Chairman of Vinh Thuan District People's Committee affirmed that up to now, the Department of Education and Training of this district has not submitted a report on the above budget and the District People's Committee has not yet commented on this budget.

Nguyen Thanh Phong, the principal of Thi Tran Secondary School, explained that he personally took the initiative to do it first because the school was worried and afraid that by the time the district leaders and the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Thuan district agreed, the transfer would not be completed in time for the new school year.

According to Mr. Phong, if the leaders of Vinh Thuan District People's Committee do not agree to transfer the school, the new school year will still be held at Thi Tran Secondary School and he will have the furniture transported back to the old place.
