TPO – Regarding the case of the principal of a middle school deciding to move the old school's facilities to a new facility in Kien Giang right before the new school year, the principal directly spoke up to explain his actions, and currently does not know where the opening ceremony will be held.
On August 26, speaking with Tien Phong reporter, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Principal of Thi Tran Secondary School (Vinh Thuan district, Kien Giang province) said that up to this point, the school has not received any official documents from superiors related to school transfer.
Mr. Phong said that on the morning of August 26, students returned to school to prepare for the new school year at the facility in Vinh Dong 1 neighborhood. However, due to the lack of notification from superiors, the school does not know where to hold the opening ceremony for the new school year, while the school year starts next week.

Previously, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Principal of Thi Tran Secondary School caused a stir among the public, parents and teachers when he arbitrarily decided to move the school's equipment and tables and chairs from the current facility (Vinh Dong 1 ward, Vinh Thuan town) to the new facility in Vinh Phuoc 2 ward (the two facilities are 3km apart). Regarding this school transfer, parents and teachers have not received an official notice from the leaders of Vinh Thuan District People's Committee and the District Department of Education and Training.
On August 23, Mr. Phong submitted a request for the opinion of the District Education and Training Department on the location for the school opening, opening ceremony and official teaching for the new school year 2024-2025. However, there has been no response, so the school does not know where to notify students to study, parents keep asking the school, while the time is near. From there, the school's leaders proposed that the facilities and school location in Vinh Phuoc 2 neighborhood meet all the conditions for studying from the school year 2024-2025.
Next, the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Thuan district responded in writing, requesting the school to continue allowing students to return to school at the facility in Vinh Dong 1 neighborhood. The official opening and teaching location for the 2024-2025 school year will be announced later.

As Tien Phong reported, on August 23, Vinh Thuan District People's Committee held a press conference to inform about the transfer of Thi Tran Secondary School from its campus in Vinh Dong 1 quarter to a new campus in Vinh Phuoc 2 quarter, Vinh Thuan Town.
Ms. Mai Thuy Oanh - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Thuan district said that the facilities of Thi Tran Secondary School in Vinh Dong 1 residential area are seriously degraded, not ensuring the new school year, and need to be transferred to the school in Vinh Phuoc 2 residential area.
“Therefore, if we do not transfer the school now (before the start of the school year - PV ), it will be difficult to prepare for the new school year. Meanwhile, the plan of the Department of Education and Training is slow to be issued, making it difficult for the school to implement. Currently, part of the facilities and equipment have been moved to the new location,” said Ms. Oanh.
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Nguyen - Vice Chairman of Vinh Thuan District People's Committee said that the Principal of Thi Tran Secondary School arbitrarily transferred the facilities without official instructions from the district, which is against the regulations. However, in order to prepare well for the new school year, the school year is approaching, so the principal was impatient to transfer the facilities without official instructions, without any personal gain.
According to Mr. Nguyen, the transfer of Thi Tran Secondary School to the new facility has been approved by the District Party Committee and People's Committee of Vinh Thuan District. However, the Department of Education and Training has been slow in implementing the process, so it has not yet issued an official document.
“The District People's Committee will continue to direct the Department of Education and Training and relevant departments to urgently complete the documents and procedures for transferring the Thi Tran Secondary School facility, ensuring time for the new school year 2024-2025,” said Mr. Nguyen.
