Handling 175 cases during the peak period of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods

During the peak period of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in Quang Tri province (from June 15 to July 15, 2024), the authorities increased the number of personnel and means to inspect, control, combat and promptly handle cases, limiting the situation of smuggling, counterfeit and poor quality goods.

According to the assessment, compared to the average of the first 6 months of 2024, the results of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the peak month increased significantly. The functional forces in the province fought, detected, arrested and handled 175 cases/188 subjects with goods worth 6.18 billion VND; punished 144 cases with a fine of 2.1 billion VND; criminally prosecuted 41 cases with 64 subjects (of which 9 cases/15 defendants were tried with a prison sentence of 3 years or less).

The main seized items include: 23,589 synthetic drug pills, 538.3 kg of firecrackers, 1,167 kg of gold, 32,165 packs of cigarettes, 1,309 electronic and household electrical products, 67.8 tons of sugar, 744 bottles of wine, 2,380 bottles of beer, 3,712 packages/boxes of various foods (including milk), 9.34 ^m3 of wood, 2,770 boxes of cosmetics, 1,852 handbags of various types...

The value of seized infringing goods increased by 82.8%, the amount of fines increased by 10.5%. Many large-scale cases were discovered and handled, the number of cases and subjects prosecuted increased by 46.42% and 56% respectively. Compared to the same period last year, the value of seized infringing goods increased by 129.73%, the amount of fines increased by 5.52%, the number of cases and subjects prosecuted increased by 24.24% and 23% respectively.
