According to initial information, at around 1:00 p.m. on January 28, a container truck with a license plate from Binh Duong province was traveling on National Highway 1 from Binh Tan District to Thu Duc City.
About 20 meters from Quang Trung overpass (District 12, Ho Chi Minh City), the container got stuck in the steel frame attached to a traffic sign across the elevated road.
The steel frame was pulled down by the container truck. At that time, bus number 24 running from Mien Dong Bus Station to Hoc Mon Bus Station was approaching and was hit by the falling steel frame. The strong impact of the steel frame weighing several tons caused the bus cabin to be torn apart, the windshield shattered and flew out.
At that time, there were about 10 people on the bus, including the driver and passengers. The passengers on the bus were screaming in panic. Fortunately, no one was injured.
