At the Dialogue between Party and State leaders, National Assembly deputies, Provincial People's Council with children in 2023 with the theme "Children participate in building a safe, friendly and healthy living environment for children". Children boldly asked questions revolving around issues that they are interested in such as propaganda on preventing and combating injuries and drowning accidents; solutions for children to participate in preventing and combating violence and child abuse; solutions to prevent the penetration of e-cigarettes into middle and high schools; orientation for children in accessing the internet and social networking applications, protecting children in the online environment; ways to denounce crimes and how children will be protected when denouncing; special support policies for children in remote and disadvantaged areas; activities to protect, care for and educate children, etc.
The children's questions were directly answered and discussed by the speakers in a frank, democratic and responsible spirit. At the program, the Soc Trang Provincial Children's Fund presented 39 gifts to disadvantaged students, children at the Nang Nhon Pagoda orphanage, the Provincial Social Protection Center, and the Provincial School for Disabled Children.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoang My - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Soc Trang province said that in the first 6 months of 2023, the whole province had 118,234/119,885 children under 6 years old issued health insurance cards, accounting for 98.62%. There are still 1.38% equivalent to 1,651 children who have not been issued cards, including cases of children who follow their families to work far away or belong to families without a stable place of residence in the localities. Children from poor households and ethnic minority children are cared for through the timely issuance of health insurance cards.
The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of districts, towns and cities coordinated with sectors and organizations to mobilize benefactors and philanthropists to donate 5,935 gifts, 509 scholarships, 20 bicycles and items such as cabinets, clothes, backpacks, school supplies, household items, coloring sets, notebooks, books, milk, teddy bears and free haircuts to students in difficult circumstances.
Program activities for child protection and care projects
In recent times, children's work in the province has always received the attention and direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the coordination of departments, branches, organizations and localities. Many activities to support children have brought about practical results, especially the inter-sectoral coordination plan for the prevention of child drowning in the period of 2023 - 2030 and activities to care for children on the occasion of Lunar New Year and the Month of Action for Children. The number of children in special circumstances, children living in poor and near-poor households are well cared for; children in special circumstances are entitled to social assistance policies according to regulations; the Children's Support Fund actively contributes to caring for children with disabilities, children with heart disease who have undergone rehabilitation surgery and integrated into the community.

According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Soc Trang province, in the first 6 months of the year, the province maintained the model of building child-friendly communes and wards. The Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs continued to guide localities to carry out survey activities, assess the impact and influence of natural conditions, analyze the causes affecting the work of building child-friendly communes, wards and towns to effectively implement the criteria of child-friendly communes, wards and towns. 100% of districts, towns and cities have organized assessments and recognized child-friendly communes, wards and towns according to Decision No. 06/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister. The total number of communes meeting the Child-friendly Commune, Ward and Town Standards is 58/109 communes, accounting for 53.02%. There are 51 communes, wards and towns that have not met the standards, accounting for 46.8% because they have not met targets 3 and 5 as prescribed.
The Provincial Steering Committee for Child Drowning Prevention Project continues to maintain intervention activities to prevent child drowning in order to contribute to reducing the number of children who die from drowning. Support 1,284 children in special circumstances, children from poor households, and children with disabilities on the occasion of the Month of Action for Children. Coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the People's Committee of Vinh Chau town and the Navy Region 2 Command to implement the activity "Navy sponsors fishermen's children", through which 05 orphans in Vinh Phuoc Ward and Ward 2, Vinh Chau town were sponsored with an amount of 500,000 VND/month/child, the sponsored children receive support money until they are 16 years old. Coordinate with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Health to organize heart disease screening for children, 180 children were examined for free, of which 25 children were assigned to have surgery.
Coordinated with the Provincial Youth Union, the Department of Education and Training and the People's Committee of Soc Trang City to organize the Launching Ceremony of the Month of Action for Children 2023 with more than 500 delegates attending. Organized the 26th "Pink Lotus" Festival with the theme "Pink Lotus on the Moon River" with more than 1,320 children participating from 28 provinces, thereby implementing the Social Security Program, awarding "Pink Lotus" houses and scholarships to children in difficult circumstances; Rom vong dance exchange, art performance and exchange in Tran De, Chau Thanh, Thanh Tri districts and Vinh Chau town.

The Social Protection Center recruits 01 social worker, establishes a Social Work Team at the unit. The Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of Tran De and Long Phu districts recruits 02 social workers to implement the project.
In the coming time, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs will continue to implement solutions to prevent and combat child injuries, especially drowning accidents. Coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to request permission to erect 12 warning signs of dangerous water areas to prevent drowning for children in communes and towns of Long Phu district. Print propaganda products to prevent and combat child drowning and criteria for safe homes to prevent and combat child injuries. Organize training courses on knowledge and skills to prevent and combat child injuries for parents and caregivers.
Continue to implement the National Action Program on preventing and combating violence and child abuse. Improve the capacity of police officers to conduct child- and juvenile-friendly investigation work at all levels; replicate the model of Women's Rapid Response Teams to prevent and combat child abuse for specialized Women's Union officers at all levels and the team of reporters, propagandists, collaborators, and core members of the Women's Union. Coordinate with the Provincial Police and the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Long Phu district, Nga Nam town and Vinh Chau town to organize 03 training courses for 300 children on knowledge of preventing and combating child abuse; train children in self-protection skills.
Effectively implement the National Action Program for Children for the period 2021 - 2030. Effectively implement the Project to support children with disabilities in accessing protection, care and education services in the community and the Project to care for the comprehensive development of children in the early years of life at home and in the community. Organize conferences to disseminate and train to improve skills on child protection and care for the comprehensive development of children in the early years of life for parents and caregivers in localities.
Implement the Project to mobilize social resources to support children in extremely disadvantaged communes in ethnic minority areas. Attract and orient children to participate in healthy and useful recreational activities, educate the traditional culture of the nation, create an enthusiastic and united atmosphere to enter the new school year.
