Vung Tau: Female driver arrested for multiple crashes that killed 2 people

On the afternoon of June 28, the People's Procuracy of Vung Tau City (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) approved the decisions to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and issue a 4-month temporary detention order for Tran Thi Thu Thanh (born in 1987, residing in Thang Nhi ward, Vung Tau city) to investigate the crime of "Violating regulations on road traffic participation", causing 2 deaths on the spot and 5 injuries.

According to a source from Vung Tau City Police, Tran Thi Thu Thanh does not have a driver's license. And the car Thanh was driving that caused the traffic accident was registered under her boyfriend's name.

As reported by SGGP Newspaper, at around 9:00 p.m. on June 27, Thanh was driving a car with license plate 72A-708.xx, causing a series of accidents with many motorbikes on Nguyen Van Troi Street (Ward 4, Vung Tau City), injuring many people.

Without stopping, the female driver continued driving to Le Quy Don Street (Ward 1, Vung Tau City), hit a motorbike with license plate 72K1-94xx carrying Ms. Phan Thi S. (born in 1951, residing in Ward 7, Vung Tau City) and her daughter Le Thi Nhu T. (born in 1981) and pushed it onto the sidewalk.

The car continued to hit a motorbike parked on the sidewalk, then crashed head-on into a lamppost and a car parked in front of a resident's house before stopping.

The traffic accident resulted in Ms. S. and T. dying on the spot. In addition, 5 people were injured, including 3 seriously injured people who are being treated at Vung Tau Hospital and Ba Ria Hospital. A total of 2 cars and 4 motorbikes were damaged. The result of the female driver's blood alcohol concentration after causing the accident was 82.3 mg/dl and the alcohol concentration through breath was 0.503 mg/liter of breath.

During the day, the Traffic Safety Committee of Vung Tau City visited and encouraged the families of the victims and the injured victims being treated at hospitals.
