At the Government press conference on the afternoon of July 6, Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, informed about the progress of the cases of Phuc Son and Thuan An Group, and recently prosecuted and detained Mr. Nguyen Van Yen, former Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission.
According to Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen, regarding the case related to Phuc Son Group, Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company, Mr. Nguyen Van Yen has been focused on investigation and clarification by the police according to the provisions of the law. When there are specific results, they will be provided to the press.

Regarding the case of: violating regulations on management and use of state assets causing loss and waste; lack of responsibility causing serious consequences; giving bribes; receiving bribes; taking advantage of positions and powers to influence others for personal gain, occurring at Xuyen Viet Oil Trading, Transport and Tourism Company Limited and a number of related agencies and organizations, up to now, the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency has prosecuted 14 defendants under the 5 groups of crimes mentioned above. The investigation process identified 2 main contents. Firstly, the subjects took advantage of the state management function in the fields of petroleum business, tax, and banking to be granted and extended petroleum business licenses when they did not meet the prescribed conditions.

Second, Mai Thi Hong Hanh (Director of Xuyen Viet Oil Trading, Transport and Tourism Company Limited - PV) and her accomplices illegally used money from the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund and environmental protection tax for business activities and personal use. Hanh also used part of the money to establish relationships and give bribes.
“The Ministry of Public Security’s Security Investigation Agency is focusing on speeding up the investigation of the case, clarifying the responsibilities of related individuals for handling according to the provisions of law; continuing to verify, freeze, and seize assets of related subjects to ensure asset recovery for the State,” the Major General said, emphasizing that when there is new information, the Ministry of Public Security will update and publicize it.
