In the final of the 2023 Paris Masters, Novak Djokovic defeated Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-3 to win the championship. This is the seventh time the Serbian tennis player has won the ATP Masters 1000 championship in Paris (France).
The Paris Masters championship helped Djokovic extend his record number of ATP Masters 1000 titles to 40. Previously, Nole held the record of 24 Grand Slam championships.
According to statistics, Djokovic's ATP Masters 1000 titles are now more than the two legends Roger Federer and Pete Sampras combined. During his playing time, Federer won 28 Masters titles, while Sampras won 11 times.
With the championship in France on the evening of November 5, Djokovic also reached the milestone of 97 ATP titles in his career. Nole is now only behind Jimmy Connors (109), Federer (103) and Djokovic still has the chance to become the tennis player with the most ATP titles in history.
The victory over Dimitrov also helped Djokovic extend his current winning streak to 18. Carlos Alcaraz was the last person to defeat Nole, in the Wimbledon final on July 16.
In the 2023 Paris Masters final, Djokovic only needed 98 minutes to defeat Dimitrov. After the match, the Bulgarian covered his face with a scarf and cried, Djokovic suddenly stopped the interview to go comfort Dimitrov.
Djokovic is all but certain to reach the 400-week mark as ATP world number one. The Serbian will have a week off before heading to the ATP Finals (taking place in Turin, Italy from November 12-19), a tournament where Djokovic is the defending champion.
