Specifically, at the annual shareholders' meeting held on May 17 of Vingroup Corporation (VIC), billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong revealed that electric car company VinFast is considering launching a line of super-small electric cars, aiming to cover all product segments.
Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong has not revealed any specific information about the upcoming car model, but shared at the meeting that: "We are implementing and considering launching a super small car, cheap, beautiful, convenient and reasonable". And at the same time, he said that in a few weeks, this car model will be officially announced.
Up to now, VinFast has sold 4 electric car models including: VF e34, VF 5 Plus, VF 8 and VF 9.
Mr. Vuong said that VinFast's goal is to become the first electric car company in the world to have enough products in all product segments.
Regarding the car production plan, Mr. Vuong also revealed that by August, VinFast will produce a full range of cars from class A to class E. Currently, VinFast's product range is only electric cars, including VF e34, VF 5 Plus, VF 8 and VF 9 sold on the market, VF 6 and VF 7 are new concepts.
According to Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong, VinFast has no intention of making electric sedans because the demand for this type of car is decreasing, sales are getting lower and lower and cannot be compared to SUV models. Therefore, the company's production plan depends on market developments.
According to VinFast's business report, in April 2023, 3,798 electric cars were delivered to customers, including 4 models VF 5 Plus, VF e34, VF 8 and VF 9.
VF 5 Plus is currently VinFast's smallest electric car model.
As of the end of April 2023, 36 VF 5 Plus cars have been delivered to customers. Currently, VinFast is continuing to accelerate the delivery of cars to customers who have pre-deposited. VF 5 Plus is also VinFast's smallest electric car model to date with a selling price of 458 million VND (excluding battery) or 538 million including battery.
For the VF 9 model, in April 2023, 198 more vehicles were delivered to customers, bringing the total number of vehicles on the road as of the end of April to 249. This is VinFast's most premium E-SUV model, with two options of 6 seats or 7 seats, along with two versions Eco and Plus. VinFast VF 9 will begin to be delivered in Vietnam from the end of March 2023.
With the two models VF 8 and VF e34, in April 2023, VinFast recorded sales growth with 1,232 VF 8 cars and 2,332 VF e34 cars sold to the market. Notably, also in April 2023, the second batch of VF 8 cars including 1,879 cars of the standard version was exported by VinFast to the North American market. It is expected that in May and June, the cars will arrive at the port and be delivered to customers in the US and Canada, respectively./.
