In early 2020, Viet Tien commune was merged from 3 communes: Phu Viet, Thach Tien and Viet Xuyen. Currently, the whole commune has 15 villages, a total area of over 20 km2 , and a population of 9,357 people.
Implementing the national target program on building new rural areas, in recent times, Viet Tien commune has mobilized the entire political system and the people to participate, contributing human and financial resources, making new rural construction a movement with widespread influence, attracting many participants.
Socio-economic infrastructure is focused on construction, especially infrastructure serving production and welfare, practically completing criteria, creating a new look for each village.
Identifying the renovation of residential areas, building model residential areas, model gardens, and developing garden economy as important factors contributing to increasing income for people, creating a green - clean - beautiful residential environment. In 2 years, the whole commune has organized 980 campaigns, mobilizing more than 123,000 working days and nearly 6,000 cadres and civil servants to organize campaigns. Estimated over 19 billion VND in working days.
From 2022 to present, the whole commune has renovated 8.2km of rural roads, 3.7km of intra-field canals, paved 9km; poured concrete to widen 10km of roads; built 4.8km of green fences; mobilized people to donate 900m of fence to widen the road corridor.
School facilities are invested in and built in a solid, standardized and gradually modernized direction. The quality of basic education is maintained.
Cultural facilities and cultural institutions are invested in to ensure the living needs of the people. In 2022 - 2023, the commune directed the integration of provincial and district policies, focusing on building entertainment and sports facilities for children and the elderly. Currently, 15/15 villages have cultural houses and sports areas with equipment installed, ensuring living and playing for the people.
Leaders of the Provincial New Rural Area Coordination Office and Thach Ha district awarded the certificate of recognition as an advanced new rural area commune to Viet Tien commune.
Up to now, the whole commune has 9 villages recognized by the province as model new rural residential areas according to the new criteria; the remaining 6 villages are speeding up the progress of implementing residential area and household garden renovation items to propose the province for appraisal in 2023 and 2024.
The whole commune has 72 model gardens recognized as meeting standards with income from 100 - 150 million VND.
The economy has developed in a diverse way; agriculture and trade and services have many positive changes. People's agricultural production has developed towards commodity, clean agriculture, and high-tech application. In the area, there are 14 enterprises, 5 cooperatives, and 3 cooperative groups operating effectively. The commune has 2 products meeting 3-star OCOP standards, developing well in terms of brand and revenue.
The material and spiritual life of the people has been improved day by day. The poverty rate in the year has decreased to 3.79% according to the new rural standards; the rate of cultural families has reached 93.7%. The cultural, artistic and sports movements have developed strongly and enthusiastically in residential areas.
With the efforts and determination of the entire political system, the consensus and joint efforts of all the people, by the end of June 2023, the commune was assessed by the provincial departments and branches to have met and exceeded the standards of 20/20 criteria for advanced communes. On September 13, 2023, the Provincial People's Committee recognized Viet Tien commune as an advanced NTM commune in 2023.
In the coming time, Viet Tien commune aims to continue to maintain and promote the implementation of the national target program on building new rural areas, building 6 more model residential areas. Strive to successfully build a model new rural commune by 2026.

Emphasizing that the results of achieving the standards of an advanced new-style rural commune are just the first step, with many difficulties and challenges ahead, the Chairman of the People's Council of Thach Ha district requested the cadres and people of Viet Tien commune to continue to make efforts, unite, promote the traditions and achievements in the work of building and innovating the homeland; strive to bring Viet Tien commune to the model new-style rural commune finish line in the coming time.
