Actress Viet Huong was moved when recalling the memory of playing the role of a corpse collector in "Ma da".
During the media preview, Viet Huong said the role was the most challenging project of her career, filming in the Ca Mau river region for more than a month. "This is the first time I've taken on such a dangerous role. Many people ask why I'm almost 50 years old and why I have to work so hard. I answer: No matter how much money you have, it's not certain that you can buy satisfaction with your career," the actress said.
During filming, Viet Huong had to soak in the mangrove forest, causing her skin to become allergic, itchy, and inflamed. In the last days, she caught a cold, often had stomachaches, lost her breath, and chills. Once, Viet Huong had to be hospitalized and was diagnosed with a facial asymmetry due to her body catching a cold.

The actors also had to practice driving the boat, swimming, and diving. When Viet Huong practiced on land, everything went smoothly, but on the day of filming, the water level changed erratically. In a scene in the middle of the river, the crew equipped her with a safety rope, and someone held her to ensure safety. The actress was careless, let herself drift downstream, and suddenly encountered rough water, so she was swept away, but luckily she was still in control.
Throughout the filming process, the actress was accompanied by her husband, musician Hoai Phuong, who helped her feel less tired. He closely followed the dangerous scenes, in case his wife had an accident.
In the 16+ rated work, the actress plays Mrs. Le - a hard-working woman who specializes in searching for drowned bodies and assisting the victims' families with funerals. Many strange phenomena occur after she recovers the body of a young man who died mysteriously. A teacher in the neighborhood (played by Trung Dan) warns that her family could be the next victims of the "ghost". The incident occurs when Nhung - Mrs. Le's daughter - goes missing, causing her to panic.
The film opens a series of projects celebrating Viet Huong's 30 years in the profession, from 1994 - the year she entered the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema - until now. In addition to Viet Huong and Trung Dan, the film also brings together artists Thanh Loc, Dieu Duc, singer Cam Ly, baby Da Chuc, Duy Anh. The director said he wanted to make a horror film based on the daily life, culture, and customs of the Vietnamese people.

The script was inspired by thrilling folk tales. As a child, the director heard many adults tell him "don't bathe in the river or you'll be haunted by ghosts". "Those word of mouth became a haunting memory that lasted for many generations, inspiring us to make the work," said director Nguyen Huu Hoang.
Viet Huong, 48 years old, became famous when she participated in Gala Cuoi with many artists, continuously winning the Favorite Comedy Group award from 2003 to 2005.
