Commenting on the 0-3 loss to defending champion USA at Eden Park (New Zealand) on July 16, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan said: "This is a special match, marking the first time the Vietnamese women's team has played at a World Cup.

It is not only the honor and pride of Vietnamese football but also the honor and pride of Southeast Asia. Especially we get to meet the reigning champion USA.

The players realized their tactical intentions, followed the coach's instructions, and played resiliently against the world's number one team.

Our girls have shown their bravery and determination in their playing style and have achieved initial positive results.

This helps the team gain the respect of the teams participating in the World Cup finals and international public opinion."

The head of VFF talked about the best preparation in the history of the Vietnamese women's team: "Immediately after winning the right to go to the World Cup from 2022, VFF prepared plans, options, and training schedules to participate in regional and continental tournaments to create a series of preparations towards the tournament.

Participating in the biggest football tournament on the planet is both an honor and a challenge. Up to this point, VFF is very happy that the team's action plan has been and is being implemented very well, meeting the set goals."

Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan said that, learning from the failures of Southeast Asian teams in their first World Cup participation, VFF has a schedule to expand international activities to create conditions for the Vietnamese women's team to have useful training trips, practice physical strength, technical tactics, especially psychology when facing big opponents.

The VFF President emphasized: "The matches in the training trips to Japan or Europe are all of very high quality. That has brought useful international experience, helping players learn many lessons in the process of adapting to the high intensity of playing football in major football countries in Europe and the world.

Despite some heavy losses, the players showed progress in their football mindset and accumulated physical strength to meet the intensity of the match.

That also demonstrated the players' perseverance in the recent match against the US. Despite losing early, the players remained calm, followed coach Mai Duc Chung's playing style, and minimized the number of goals conceded."

After an impressive opening match and only losing 0-3 to defending champion the United States, the Vietnamese women's team is preparing to meet Portugal on July 27.

VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan encouraged the whole team: "Currently, the Vietnamese women's team needs to actively recover after the first match and focus on preparing for the matches against Portugal and the Netherlands in the next rounds.

Hopefully the whole team will always be ready to take the field with the highest spirit, play their best, create many surprises and leave a special mark in their first World Cup in New Zealand."
