Literature and art contribute significantly to the task of building a cultural environment.

(Fatherland) - On the morning of January 14, in Hanoi, the Union of Literature and Arts Associations (VLA) held the 4th National Committee Conference to summarize the work in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025.

Attending and directing the Conference were Ms. Dinh Thi Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Mr. Do Hong Quan - Chairman of the Union of Literature and Arts Associations, along with Chairmen of specialized Literature and Arts Associations and Chairmen of local Literature and Arts Associations.

The results contribute to building a cultural environment.

At the Conference, the Standing Vice President of the Youth Union presented the draft Report summarizing the work in 2024 and deploying tasks in 2025. Accordingly, in 2024, literature and art received the attention of the leadership and direction of the Party and functional agencies of the Party and the State. Also in 2024, our country had many important political events, the socio-economic situation was basically stable, achieving many positive results in many aspects and fields. In that general context, the fields of culture, literature and art organized many practical activities, contributing to the overall stability and development of the country. This is the year to implement the Directive of the Central Secretariat on the Congress of Central Specialized Literary and Art Associations and the Vietnam Union of Literary and Art Associations for the 2025-2030 term. The Central Union of Literary and Art Associations has made efforts to focus on successfully completing the tasks of the term, actively preparing for the new term congress, continuing to implement many major literary and art programs and projects towards the country's important anniversaries. The team of artists continues to promote the spirit and role of responsibility on the ideological and cultural front, building Vietnamese culture, literature and art.

Conference Overview

The Union and its member associations have organized many practical and meaningful activities. The method of organizing activities to promote creative freedom associated with the social responsibility of artists has created high consensus; focusing on quality and efficiency in organizing and gathering artists and encouraging innovation. The Association truly represents the will and aspirations of artists and is a bridge between artists and the Party and the State; proactively advising and proposing viewpoints, mechanisms and policies to develop the country's literature and art... The Presidium's Committees in charge of regions are the bridge between member organizations and the Union. Coordination with relevant departments, ministries and branches is maintained regularly and effectively.

With the results achieved in 2024, literature and art make an important contribution to the task of building a cultural environment, building people, fighting against wrongful manifestations, creating a healthy atmosphere in society, creating confidence in the future of the country, and improving aesthetic taste among the people.

Some difficulties, suggestions

However, literary and artistic activities still face many difficulties and confusion, and operational funding still has problems with perception...

At the Conference, representatives of local Literature and Arts Associations frankly raised difficulties and problems as well as proposed solutions for the coming year. Notably, the issue of operating budget of local Literature and Arts Associations is worth noting. Some localities have quite limited operating budget, leading to many difficulties, but some localities have quite high operating budget, up to more than 10 billion a year such as Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association. Delegates of Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association as well as Phu Tho Literature and Arts Association said that it is necessary to make literature and arts one of the practical tasks of the locality, approved by the leaders, not only to promote the literature and arts of the province but also a political task, meeting the artistic and entertainment needs of the people, then literature and arts will develop, have a place and have a source of operating budget.

Besides, some delegates also said that the art team should take the lead, should not be too passive from the funding provided by the state but need to find new directions, suitable to reality. The promotion of literary and artistic works is not only the work of the Literature and Arts Association but also the work of each artist and author himself.

Representative of the Danang Literature and Arts Association - poet Nguyen Nho Khiem said that currently, provinces and cities nationwide have many different operating models, so he suggested that the Central Literature and Arts Association recommend the Central Government and relevant agencies to build a unified organizational model for the system of Literature and Arts Associations nationwide, ensuring synchronization in operations.

Regarding the implementation of Resolution 18 on continuing to innovate and streamline the political system's organizational structure to make it leaner and more effective, the Union and its member associations at the central and local levels will continue to seriously deploy and implement it, ensuring compliance with requirements and progress.
