VOV.VN - Today, the Vietnamese National Assembly hosted the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians from September 14-17, 2023 in Hanoi.

Climate change, poverty reduction, the explosive growth of digital technology, digital transformation, and innovation are issues that directly impact the goal of sustainable development. The voices of young parliamentarians on the parliamentary forum will promote positive changes. To effectively address challenges and take advantage of opportunities, the promulgation of appropriate policies and laws is important. In that process, the voices of young parliamentarians on the parliamentary forum will promote positive changes. The role of young Vietnamese National Assembly deputies in the activities of the National Assembly in recent years has clearly demonstrated and affirmed that.

With their youth, enthusiasm, dynamism, sensitivity and creativity, young National Assembly deputies have actively participated and made practical and multi-dimensional contributions to the legislative, supervisory and decision-making activities of important issues of the country. It is not difficult to see the confident images of young National Assembly deputies when debating at the discussion sessions of the National Assembly, many impressive, profound, frank and convincing statements are highly appreciated and recorded in the Resolutions and laws issued by the National Assembly. It can be said that young National Assembly deputies not only speak up for the voices, thoughts and aspirations of the youth but also excellently perform their role as elected representatives, conveying the wishes and recommendations of voters and people nationwide.

Delegate Hoang Duc Thang, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Tri Province, commented that through two National Assembly terms, he has witnessed many young National Assembly deputies maturing very quickly through each session of the National Assembly: "I am very impressed that the young National Assembly deputies have shown their enthusiasm and eagerness and have quickly approached. Therefore, some young deputies were confused and bewildered at some sessions, but after only 1 or 2 sessions, they have shown maturity and demonstrated good responsibility in the activities of the National Assembly". In recent years, the geopolitical, economic and social situations in the world and the region have had many unpredictable fluctuations, urging and requiring the activities of the National Assembly to constantly innovate, adapt quickly and be more flexible in decisions. In many issues, to create positive changes, to solve internal problems, cooperation, general discussion and finding the most suitable solutions are needed because these are global issues. With the theme "The role of youth in promoting the implementation of sustainable development goals through digital transformation and innovation" in the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians held in Hanoi, in the context of digital transformation being a global trend and a matter of survival for countries.

Discussions and initiatives by young parliamentarians, who are proactive, quick to adapt to digital transformation and innovation, will promote the implementation of sustainable development goals. Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the 15th Young National Assembly Deputies Group, said: This is also the content that young National Assembly deputies are interested in during the discussion sessions at the parliament and at the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians Conference this time: "Digital transformation is not simply a technological revolution but a revolution in institutions and awareness, as National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said. Our group of young National Assembly deputies is fully aware of our responsibility in the process of forming a legal framework for laws and draft laws related to digital transformation that the National Assembly has passed and will discuss for approval in the coming time. In addition, the group of young Vietnamese National Assembly deputies strengthens international cooperation channels to learn from the experiences of other countries in building institutions related to digital transformation". Mr. Hoang Minh Hieu, Standing Member of the Law Committee of the National Assembly, said: "Young parliamentarians are representatives of young people, have a direct role in implementing digital transformation, and young parliamentarians themselves are capable and knowledgeable to keep up with science and technology, and the voice of parliamentarians contributes to providing solutions to help achieve sustainable development goals through digital transformation. The group of young Vietnamese parliamentarians has actively prepared to work for this conference." Along with actively participating in legislative activities, supervising and deciding on important issues of the country, young National Assembly deputies have participated in many multilateral and bilateral foreign affairs activities for young people.

Mr. Vu Hai Ha, Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee, said that this is a good experience for Vietnam to host this Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference and demonstrate its responsibility for major issues of the world and the country: "Hosting the 9th Young Parliamentarians' Conference is also a step for us to continue to demonstrate our role and responsibility to the world community as well as promote the role of young parliamentarians in contributing to solving challenging global issues and to contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations, which is currently assessed to be very slow compared to the set goals."
