Knowing about the seedless lychee variety that has recently appeared in Vietnam, many people have searched to buy it to enjoy but have not found it. Ms. Thu Hang (in Hoang Mai district, Hanoi) said that her family wants to enjoy this special lychee variety. “ We have been eating traditional lychee for decades. Therefore, when we read about the jade lychee (seedless lychee) that has been successfully grown and harvested in Vietnam, everyone in the family was curious and excited. However, I have been to all the major supermarkets in Hanoi but have not been able to find this product yet, ” Ms. Hang said.
Sharing the same curiosity about a seedless lychee variety with a sweet taste, Ms. Quynh Van (Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi) also expressed: “ Not only me, but also my friends and acquaintances are very curious when asked about this lychee variety. We have researched and ordered online through dealer channels, but the suppliers said that this product is always out of stock .”
Seedless litchi, also known as jade litchi, is bred and grown in the mountainous area of Ngoc Lac district, Thanh Hoa province. This is a product bred, grown and developed by Ho Guom Group Joint Stock Company over the past 5 years.

Responding to VTC News , Mr. Nguyen Duy Ninh, General Director of Service Division of Ho Guom Group Joint Stock Company, said that recently, the first batch of seedless lychees was packaged and transported to Noi Bai airport by Ho Guom - Song Am High-Tech Agriculture Company Limited (under Ho Guom Group) for export to Japan and the United Kingdom. This is a special type of lychee with the characteristic of being seedless (or if there are seeds, they are very small and flat). The care process is also very special, meeting the strict criteria of demanding markets in the world.
According to Mr. Ninh, the total volume of the shipment exported to the two foreign markets mentioned above is more than 1 ton, of which 500 kg is exported to Japan and 600 kg to the UK. According to a survey, in the Japanese market, seedless lychees are being sold at 4,500-5,000 yen/kg, equivalent to 750,000-840,000 VND/kg.
In addition, another seedless lychee product distribution unit of Ho Guom Group also exported a shipment of more than 100 kg from Vietnam to Japan through The Domino Joint Stock Company (Tokyo) for distribution in an Asian supermarket in Japan.
Seedless fabric or pearl fabric is beautifully packaged.
With seedless lychee, this unit has been recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Ngoc Lac, Thanh Hoa is also the only place in Vietnam that has successfully grown seedless lychee on a large scale.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Ninh, this is a locality with suitable soil and climate for this type of lychee. The company also chooses a separate area of land, not planting traditional lychee varieties next to it to avoid cross-pollination by bees. “ This is to ensure that the harvested lychee is 100% seedless ”.
A representative of Ho Guom - Song Am High-Tech Agriculture Company Limited said that 2023 is the first year the company harvests lychees for sale to the market. The estimated harvest output is about 20 tons, with a wholesale price of about 170,000 VND/kg. Currently, the company's seedless lychees are present in many major domestic markets such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City... Seedless lychees (also known as jade lychees) are considered to have a sweet taste, low in sugar, and are very good for the health of users. While many varieties of lychees or fruits today are too sweet, contain high sugar content, and affect the health of consumers, seedless lychees are bred and grown with the characteristics of "sweetness, low in sugar". This is also the characteristic that creates the attractive value of this fruit.
The retail price of seedless lychees in the domestic market currently fluctuates around 250,000-320,000 VND/kg, depending on the packaging, quantity and size of the lychees. The company is distributing them in boxes, such as special boxes priced at 800,000 VND/box (only 200 boxes are produced); 2 kg boxes priced at 550,000 VND/box; 1 kg boxes priced at 280,000 VND/box and 500 gram boxes priced at 148,000 VND/box.
“ This price can be considered high compared to traditional lychee varieties, but in terms of quality compared to other imported fruits, it is extremely reasonable, ” said the General Director of the Service Division of Ho Guom Group Corporation.
Seedless lychee has a sweet taste, low sugar, very good for the health of the user.
Regarding the scarcity of this product in supermarkets or fruit stores, Mr. Nguyen Duy Ninh admitted that seedless lychee products are out of stock. Accordingly, the orders for this type of lychee are very large, while the supply is not enough to supply supermarket systems or fruit retail stores. It will take more time for this type of lychee to be available in traditional markets.
According to the representative of Ho Guom Group Joint Stock Company, the event of the first more than 1 ton of seedless lychee being exported to the Japanese and UK markets has marked an important milestone for the local agricultural sector, opening up opportunities for the export of many agricultural products of Thanh Hoa province in particular and Vietnam in general in the coming time.
For the domestic market, manufacturers are still trying to meet customer demand. First, it will be to be present in supermarkets in major city centers across the country.
