Ukraine has lost access to Ugledar; nuclear warning from Russia

In Kursk, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) reportedly captured positions west of the village of Vesyole after offensive operations, the Military Summary channel reported. Russia delivers fatal blow in Tsukurino

The Russian army has basically taken control of Tsukurino and can consider the next task is the settlement of Selidove. The next target could be the village of Vishnevoye so that the Russian army can control the E-50 highway from Pokrovsk towards Selidove from the north. Once Vishnevoye falls, the AFU will have no other choice, this will be the final blow to the Ukrainian army stationed in Selidove.

Europe continues to call for allowing Ukraine to attack Russian territory

Chairman of the European Committee on Foreign Affairs and Security Josep Borrell has called on Kiev's Western allies to allow the AFU to attack airports and sites on Russian territory with long-range weapons.

“I also emphasize the call to allow Ukraine to target Russian airports and missile launch sites with Western weapons. Let Ukraine attack!” , Mr. Josep Borrell emphasized.

Previously, the US continued to discuss the possibility of allowing the AFU to carry out strikes deep into Russian territory using weapons aided by Western countries, despite the Pentagon's doubts about the benefits of such an adventurous step.

NATO should not ignore Russia's warnings

The leader of the Lugansk region, Leonid Slutsky, said that the West should listen to signals from Moscow and that future NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte should not be irresponsible in the face of Russia's warnings.

“We are not trying to inflate the room. We are taking appropriate measures to counter the proxy war waged by the West against the entire Russian world ,” Leonid Slutsky said.

The proposed changes to Russia’s nuclear doctrine are a clear example, Slutsky said, of the outgoing Secretary General’s attempt to “downplay” Moscow’s warnings. “Underestimating reality only exacerbates the hawks’ madness,” Slutsky said.

On September 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed changes to the nuclear doctrine. The Russian president stated that in the updated version, an aggressive action against Russia by a non-nuclear-weapon state with the support or participation of a nuclear-weapon state would be considered a joint attack.

NATO has not made any official move yet.

Outgoing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the North Atlantic Alliance has not seen changes in Russia's nuclear doctrine that would require changes in the bloc's policy.

“NATO does not see any change in Russian policy that would require the alliance to change,” Mr. Jens Stoltenberg said.

Earlier, Mr. Stoltenberg called the update of Russia's nuclear doctrine an attempt to threaten the North Atlantic Alliance and Ukraine in order to make NATO abandon its efforts to support Kiev.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said there was no need to comment on this issue because it did not affect Germany's foreign policy.

EU Foreign Policy Representative Peter Stano stressed that the European Union has not changed its position on the issue of supporting Ukraine because of the Russian leader's statement on changing the nuclear doctrine.

Russia comments on Western reaction

The reaction of Western countries to changes in Russia's nuclear doctrine will be clearly reflected in their further decisions regarding Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

“When we say something publicly, we assume that those who are interested in our approach will hear it,” said Sergey Lavrov.

Lavrov added that he could not judge exactly how the West understood Moscow’s message. The diplomat also noted that the reaction of Western countries would be clear if they would allow Kiev to attack Russian territory with Western long-range weapons. “It will be clear how they understand what they hear,” Lavrov stressed.

In this regard, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov pointed out that the adjustment of the nuclear doctrine is a reaction that reflects the views of Moscow's opponents. According to him, in Russia, it is necessary to "build an understanding of the approach of partners" based on their actions.

Mr. Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement on changing nuclear doctrine should be considered a signal sent to the West.
